Well if anything if I needed to know directions by only from what I know and could deduce by myself, I could figure out which way was west, east, north, and south, by the stars(e.g. North Star) and by the way the sun rises and sets with respect to what time of year it was. I could have a very rough estimate of where I was on earth in the same way.
If I was alone I would find or make primative shelter, drinkable water, and find ways to abtain some form or another of food.
After getting myself situated and staying in the same place as a result I would eventually take the nessesary rations of stuff and go exploring, with each progressive trip longer than the previous, with more stuff.
Trying to survive this way is no easy task but I'm sure I could do it. Surviving by your own labor is VERY extremely difficult.
