I totally like this recording of afterglow.

tylor

Me too. It's killer.

And it still reminds me of  the music from "Star Light Zone" on "Sonic The Hedgehog" :)

I'm just a BIG HUGH fan of VC and just her piano.  And then you hear a great recording of a new song(to some,)  and you are just taken back.

The crazy thing is the piano is not my favorite instrument.  You start to feel a greater appreciation for the instrument after hearing VC though.

I love all kinds of music with all kinds of instruments but Damn I love Nessa on the keys. What's odd is that the songs aren't that hard to play they just sound so damn good. It's like a friend I had in high school who didn't like ac/dc because he said the music was to simple and repetitive. I always said it didn't matter if it was easy or repetitive as long it sounded good and kicked arse right?!?!?

Exactly!! I love Nessa's piano and it's just so beautiful and complex sounding but I was shocked when it was easy for me to play 8O

one of the reasons Afterglow was one of my favorite songs was because of the lyrics.  They really meant something to me..

and these new ones..? hmmm :?

Well...she only changed the first verse...

[Edit] Okay, well, that and the last verse is altered a bit, but we're really only missing the first verse from the old version...and then again, the version on Harmonium may be different from both, as she seems to alter the lyrics to songs every once and a while when they're played live...

Just when the days start getting longer
I walk the streets I never knew
And theres some words I never told you
The sound rings out like the truth

And if you could see
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back
Bathed in afterglow

And as I sit here in this dark room
All I seem to feel is light
And I see color
I see the maroon
In the blood of this life that's ours

And if you could see
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back
Bathed in after--

Watch the sun, it paints an orange sky
And lay me down, and feel the day has gone by

Just when the days start getting colder
I walk the streets I never knew
And the sun comes out for you

And if you could see
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back
Bathed in after--

Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back
Bathed in afterglow, oh, oh

twi·light    n.

         1. The diffused light from the sky during the early evening or early morning when the sun is below the horizon and its light is refracted by the earth's atmosphere.
         2. The time of the day when the sun is just below the horizon, especially the period between sunset and dark.
   2. Dim or diffused illumination.
   3. A period or condition of decline following growth, glory, or success: in the twilight of his life.
   4. A state of ambiguity or obscurity.

af·ter·glow    n.

   1. The atmospheric glow that remains for a short time after sunset.
   2. The light emitted after removal of a source of energy, especially:
         1. The glow of an incandescent metal as it cools.
         2. The emission of light from a phosphor after removal of excitation.
   3. The comfortable feeling following a pleasant experience.
   4. A lingering impression of past glory or success.

Interesting how they are both also the titles of VC songs. The seem to complement each other in imagery.
-Samantha

For me it's a glance
And a smile on your face
A touch of your hands
An honest embrace - VC, Home
