Hey Soldier
By: Joseph E. (me)

Hey Soldier, did you hear today,
you’re going to war?
Hey Soldier, do you know what
you’re fighting for?
Hey Soldier, did they tell you who may die?
Can you answer a question, why?

People saying I’m wrong,
Though my opinion I keep so strong.
Hey Soldier, just to let you know,
I disapprove of war, but if you must go.
I will pray that you stay alive, and keep safe.
Try to avoid an evil fate.

A war without explanation and little warning.
Could show defeat.
No one has an answer of why we go.
Is peace a force that shows,
An evil?

Hey Soldier, did you hear today,
you’re going to war?
Hey Soldier, do you know what
you’re fighting for?
Hey Soldier, did they tell you who may die?
Can you answer a question, why?

Anti-war is not anti-American.
Anti-peace is pro-hate,
What happened to the other threats?
And what about that date?
We invade a country we hate?
That date so many died, was caused by Al Qaeda,
you probably remember, It made us cry.

But Iraq didn’t do it.
What can’t you see
the people are dying
and why can’t we see?

Hey Soldier, did you hear today,
you’re going to war?
Hey Soldier, do you know what
you’re fighting for?
Hey Soldier, did they tell you who may die?
Can you answer a question, why?

So this leader of mine most of the world hates,
Leads us to war, it could be a mistake.
Maybe its not, but to know could be too late.
A world is against you what’s our fate?

It’s not your fault, I know its not.
I am not blind I can see.  Bye Soldier,
I have to say farewell and again stay safe for your family.

Good-Bye Soldier, did you hear today,
you’re going to war?
Good-Bye Soldier, do you know what
you’re fighting for?
Good-bye Soldier, did they tell you who may die?
Can you answer a question, why?

Awesome poem Joey, I might work on some of the puctuation and pauses just for the diction and read of the work...it would give it a stronger impact. I see a great deal of potential to you as a writer. Keep up the good work!

I'm the best speller and best at grammar in my whole family.. hehe.. Well, I think my mom and I are equal when it comes to grammar.. We get a kick out of people that say things like "had ran" hehe.. it's past present! lol... Yeah, and that multiple period thing at the end of almost all of my sentences is just a weird habit.. don't ask!
