Vanessa Carlton Cancels Western Canadian Dates

Young piano woman Vanessa Carlton will not be returning to play shows in Canada in 2004. Carlton had three more Canadian shows scheduled for her fall tour, but has cancelled them due to "scheduling conflicts."

Carlton was scheduled to play Richard's On Richards in Vancouver on November 24, Calgary's MacEwan Hall on November 26 and Edmonton's Starlite Room on November 27. All three shows have been cancelled with no plans to reschedule in the near future. Any tickets already purchased can be returned at the point of purchase.

We're not sure exactly what Carlton has planned that could be more important than entertaining music fans in Western Canada, but it's probably got something to do with the promotion of her brand new album, Harmonium. The album was just released last Tuesday (November 9) and young Miss Carlton likely has some television appearances to attend to, as well as the outrageously lucrative American radio promo market, which kicks into full swing during the holiday season. Either way, if Canadians want a glimpse of Carlton, they best tune into The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tomorrow night (November 16), when Carlton will perform a track from the new album.

Harmonium follows Carlton's 2002 breakthrough album, Be Not Nobody, which featured the huge hit "A Thousand Miles."
