thanks tia! shuttle tatting is uber hard, but needle tatting is pretty easy and simple - you have to have patience though! especially if you forget a knot, because then you have to start that whole section over again. i think the link i posted has both needle and shuttle instructions

8O There's a handicraft that our very own Martha Stewart is yet to master?

Awesome stuff Jessica! Thanks for sharing your creation with us. Its great to
see youth ensuring handicraft treasured by our grandparents isn't forgotten
- my Grandma would be impressed! How long did it take you to make that 1?

that took me roughly 5 hours. i didn't do it all in one sitting, worked on it for about an hour at a time.

Its so pretty Jess! I couldn't even begin to *think* about making something as complicated and intricate as that! Do you hang them up on your wall? Or put them on your desk?

lol thanks rosie :-) It's really not that hard, especially when you do needle tatting. It's a simple overhand and underhand combo. Usually what i tat are doilies or just little things that can be sewn on to shirts. you can make christmas ornaments, edgings that can be sewn on to hankies (which is what it was popularly used for when it was first created) and collars, stuff like that.
