Moving to California for a bit, need entertainment help!
« on: March 16, 2005, 06:23:09 am »
My employer likes to give you as little information as possible in the shortest amount of time as possible when it comes to sending you to some strange place. Basically two days ago my higher ups said to me, "Oh yeah, you're going to California for a month, leaving this coming Monday." I'm going to be (from my understanding) near the Los Angeles area, and so that I don't get bored out of my mind, if anyone from that area can give me ideas to keep entertained, that'd be greatly appreciated!
Washington is a dreadfully awful place......this I've learned

You're going to LA and you're worried that you'll be bored?!?!  Unless you're a freak, you won't be.

My suggestion is to visit Largo, a club owned by Fiona Apple's producer, Jon Brion.  He plays there often.  It's cool 'cause there's a no-chatting rule.  An awesome place to hear live music!

 :D

You're supposed to pay full attention to the artist who's performing, so you're not allowed to sit there and talk to your friends.  (You can say a few words here and there, of course.)  As an artist, I think that's awesome!  It's very intimate--a different way to see a live show.

Yeah, I can see where that would certainly help in shows where the music isn't as loud as most of us are probably used to.
