No, no

Americans hate Brazilians because Brazilians want to go to UNITED STATES to work.... I understand, I know that you don't like other people from another country coming into your country and stealing your job

But, EVERYBODY, EVERYONE, ALL THE BRAZILIANS that are or have been to United States, say the same thing

" They don't like us, they treat us bad, they humiliate us "
Everybody.... No one says that you americans like Brazilians

So, they want to travel to UNITED STATES and they don't get the VISTO and they decide to go through MEXICO.... And that's so bad...

I know Brazilians that went to US and had to suffer, to eat bad, to sleep bad, to be humiliated...

Afterglow, you're just digging yourself deeper and deeper. Nobody here hates Brazillians. Nobody here thinks lowly of them. Well, with the exception of the racists... but those are few and far between these days.

Maybe you should actually come to the US for yourself.

i agree.  Afterglow, it makes you sound more racist towards americans with what you're saying here.  You can never let a few ignorant individuals be the example for an entire country or group.

Everyone lives in a nation of immigrants- no country has ever been exclusive (apart from maybe a random island in Indonesia or something). So i'll say it again, shall i?

your teacher is ignorant.  If you take his/her thoughts without validating them for yourself then you're no better then he is.

There are several americans on this board and you've heard from quite a few that there is no hatred towards people from "another country"

I have a personal problem with people coming to the US and *not* working but that holds fast for people from the US as well.  My opinions on people coming from another country to America is they are held to the same standard as someone from America and visa versa.  I would say I am sooner annoyed by the fact that people from america live on welfare indefinitely when someone from another country (be it Brazil) works their a** off to make a living for themselves.

You're English. If you are of Saxon decent, you've been there for 1500-2000 years (or even longer, too lazy to look it up). If you're of Norman decent, that's been there for a bit less than 1000 years. That's far too long to maintain any sort of separate cultural identity.

In contrast, most of my family arrived here 125-150 years ago.

Do you watch the soap/soup opera called " America "?
This soap/soup opera talks about it

Brazilians trying to get a new life in UNITED STATES and they have to go there through MEXICO because UNITED STATES don't let them be there...
So, when the Brazilians get to UNITED STATES, they are so sad..
And it's not only my Teacher and my opinion

I know many many many people that go to UNITED STATES to try to get a little money to biuld a house up, or buy a car, or help their children...

But they suffer a lot... because they say that AMERICANS hate and hate BRAZILIANS..

I'm not talking about you, it's not your case, I know that there're many cool Americans........ (Vanessa Carlton for exemple) but I say because I know it.. I know what I'm saying, I'm not joking or kidding...

And I know all of it, because my mother is tried to work hard here and don't get any money, she's really thinking of Going to USA..

Because all the Brazilians that have been to USA, says to my mother,.... DON'T GO.. YOU'LL SUFFER A LOT.. AND ETC...

So I thought " London or Australia "... she's really wanting to go to one of these country and she'll take me of course...

I don't wanna live in Brazil because here I won't have future..

I was born to be rich and I'll be...... suffering or not.... I'll be someone in life..... and it depends only on my wishes......

" For the first time I'm proud of myself for saying all that I feel "

My family came over from ireland in the potato famine, moved to scotland and then down to England so i have a 'mixed heritage' just as much as you do- i don't know anyone who is purely 'English'- whatever that means. Nationalism and 'Heritage' are concepts  invented for political gain only a few hundred years ago- it means nothing.
