Cosmo girl is cool.
I'm with Hair on that one.

I am not trying to argue, I just think that it is a waste of time to sit here talking about a little article in magazine, It's not the first time something negative has been said about Vanessa, and probably won't be the last time.

You know how I am when I get pissed and people talk shit abotu Vanessa, so here is a copy of the letter I sent to YM in reference to what was printed.

Mike
22
Male
Closter, NJ

This letter is in response to:

LOATHE - VANESSA CARLTON

Everything about her irks me- all her songs sound the same and she has a skeevy older boyfriend. (he's 38, she's 22, eek). Then there's her Michelle Branch complex. We think Vanessa cut her bangs so people would stop confusing the two of them. I'm baffled that people can't remember that Michelle's the one who's not annoying.

Where do you get off even printing something like that. Your editor must have some set of balls over there.  # 1 all her songs DO NOT sound the same.  If you've ever listened to the album which i doubt you have since you have no class in music genre what-so-ever, you'll notice there is a certain aspect of her music and highs and lows in her music.  Songs such as A Thousand Miles and Wanted sound nothing alike, and please, please tell me what Pretty Baby sounds like on the album, cause i'm stumped over here. # 2 So what if her boyfriend is 38, atleast she has someone that knows a lot about the industry and can help her along. # 3 Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch are 2 DIFFERENT people, the sooner all of you idiots realize this the better off you'll be.  One plays guitar the other one plays piano. They are each two different looking people, and about Vanessa cutting her bangs so what, you people sit there and critique her like you have nothing else better to do with your time. If your really that bored, I can think of a bunch of things you can do that put down people who are more talented than you'll ever be.  # 4 In reference to the annoying comment, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I think it was annoying that i actually had to sit there and read that garbage that you printed, or how it's even more annoying how you suck and squander teens into buying your magazine. In closing this letter is my voiced opinion, I stand by everything I have stated above and think you should give Vanessa a lot more credit than you give her, cause the last time I checked, the ratio of musicians who WRITE, SING, and ORCHESTRATE their OWN MUSIC was quite slim

Sincerely

Michael Wassuta

Here's my letter:

David

New York City

I am writing this letter to YM magazine and it’s editors to voice my discontent with the views voiced and nationally published in your magazine regarding singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton. As an assistant to a contributing editor to one of your major competitors (which I will not affiliate myself with), I must say that this declaration is in extremely poor taste. I find it appalling that the editors of a magazine that is dedicated to promoting self-esteem and poise in teen girls would dedicate their publication to ridiculing an artist who has participated in numerous charitable events, and has also used her talent and image to evoke self worth and confidence to the same young women that your magazine caters to. I hope that for the sake of keeping with the purpose of your magazine, that you will use better discretion in the future. Thanks.

Regards,
David
