« on: June 22, 2006, 04:50:42 pm »
Did you guys ready VC's latest post?  I just had today: Chronic - what cles- of Narnia (think SNL).

She's writing songs for a musical version of Chronicles of Narnia.  That is so cool!  I hope they get accepted.

That'd be awesome if they were used in it... but yes, we better atleast still get to hear them even if they're not!

I can't quite imagine her playing the role of a wardrobe...

Yaa it's going to be interesting, but we are talking about the chronicles of Narnia, the characters in that are kind of her style. She likes unicorns and vampires, she may like lions witches and wardrobes aswell.

Hm, this is true... though I also know that musicals aren't like pop music, and require a lot of skill in orchestration and understanding of chorale music.... what I mean is that there's a lot of competition out there among show writers, Vanessa may be out of her league.

Hmmm.... I can't really say until I hear the songs. Could be fantastic, might not be so good. Who knows? Remember she played and listened to Classical music growing up, but when she made her own music, whilst there were classical influences, her music was of a different style. (Let's not fight about the genre, lol.) So, maybe she is capable of writing great music for a musical. We don't know.

She mentioned somewhere that she improvised if she forgot part of a (classical) song. It's not like her music and the music from a musical (I need to stop saying that word) are on two poles of a planet, it's all music (and once again...).
Why don't you come on over? Stop making a fool out of me.

i think half a week before the winter would be a cool song to go with the theme of the story, but i don't know how you'd make that into a musical song..

Vanessa likes to experiment a bit and I think her lyris tend to lend themself to telling a story (even though she laways says that is the hardest part of writing a song).  I would be open to hearing what she has to offer a musical.

It would be great for her career if done well and gets well received.
