Downtown, tonight?
« on: July 10, 2006, 11:31:58 pm »
So, I play the piano for our school assemblies, and one day at practice I started playing the piano. Then all of the song leaders ran up to the piano and said, "Play that traveling piano song. That walking downtown tonight song by Michelle Branch". Then I was like "A Thousand Miles you mean by Vanessa Carlton?" (Since I usually play it for them.) So I played it and then some teacher was like, "Stop playing that Michelle Branch music". Ugh..for the last time it's Vanessa Carlton.

How insulting. Michelle's good but a) Vanessa's the pianist and b) Vanessa's better.
Why don't you come on over? Stop making a fool out of me.

That is a very rare and exciting experience in this era of Nessaholics.

ironically, ATM was originally called "Interlude" by Vanessa, but her label wanted to call it "Downtown Tonight".  So she compromised with A Thousand Miles.

And now it's often referred to as "A Thousand F***ing Miles" because of how inescapable it is for her, but it makes her enough money that she can spend time and album space to put out weird songs about wars between vampires and unicorns. :D

Well, yes, it does sound like something else too, but this is a somewhat family-oriented board. 8)
