new tweet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what the hell is she saying? lol Is the album being released on viny?
-
"Bck 2 england sept 6th."-Shes going back to England September 6th, meaning she's likely in New York
"We print to vinyl. Bless those black circles."-She's printing her record to vinyl [which she likes apparently] and likely to CDs but no one really brags about printing to CDs as they are so common
"4 now it's an Aug sun on nyc concrete, vic, and ballet. Best thing."-August sunshine in new york city with Victor [woof] and ballet.
thats what i got from it
That's pretty much what I get too... I just think it's pretty weird she mentioned those vinyl... I wonder if she would really release her record on those.... ???
-
yayyy does this mean it should be ready soon?
-
Why do you have to create a new topic for this, since we're talking about that tweet in two different threads.
But yeah, I hope it's coming soon!
-
I love vinyl! I have White Houses on vinyl. Can't wait to add Rabbits to my collection!
So the release must be really really soon if they're printing now. I wish we knew when it would be, I need something to look forward to!

I don't have anything against vinyls, but I think if the record would be sold only in vinyl, I don't think it would be commercially successful. I mean, who still uses those 'big black circles' aside from collectors? Just an opinion.
-
I can't imagine anyone releasing an album only on an outdated niche format (albeit an outdated niche format that has a certain charm to it), so I wouldn't worry. That'd just be ASKING for people to make illegal copies on CD/web download.
-
I'm sure the release on vinyl will be done alongside the cd version. I'd gladly buy both and have the vinyl cover signed! ;D

Unless she does what Sara Bareilles did with "Little Voice": if you buy the vinyl, you can legally download the mp3s online.
-
um okay sorry didn't realise i was just excitd. hmmm
-
Stupid question but the smaller cases (I have noticed Ingrid Michaelson does this too with her cds), are vinly. They're just made in a different way where they can't be illegally copied or...?

if you can hear it, you can illegally copy it. there are ways. no exceptions.
-
Lots of artists release a vinyl copy a few weeks before the mp3 or cd versions. And yes I do see a lot of pre-order the vinyl, you'll get a free digital copy when it releases as well.
I was record player shopping with a friend last year and there are many that have a rip to mp3 feature.
I enjoy the vinyl sound so much better!! Doesn't lose quality.
-
There is a huge following of vinyl happening now, and there are a lot of indie artists releasing only on Vinyl, and all new records come with a download card for the Mp3.
I think it will be awesome to have V on Vinyl!
-
does this mean she's going to be releasing the album like ruulll soon =))))
-
I love the tangibility of vinyl! I listen to my record player all the time, i dont think its all that outdated. Alot of my favorite CURRENT punk bands only release on vinyl...
But of course there will be CDs too, or at least it downloadable. So no need to freak out.
-
This is so exciting! (:
Is vinyl more expensive?...lol. Stupid question sorry.
-
...I don't have a record player :/
-
If she's printing on vinyl, I know I'm not getting it. The only record player accessible to me is my uncle's, and he's kept it somewhere - obviously, it's whereabouts are unknown. /sigh Well, hopefully, she releases it on iTunes and the album art is released with it; if not, then I'll just have to hope that someone will upload the album art (please? lol). Alternatively, she can print ROTR on vinyl and on CD? Maybe I'm just being a little to wishful.

That's what I am worrying about too. I'm not sure whether I would be able to get a copy of ROTR. Besides, I don't have any player.
-
My parents do have a record player but I wanna listen to the album in the car, on my ipod etc. So if the album is only released on vinyl (which will be surprisingly dumb) then I'll probably buy the vinyl just never listen to it and download high quality mp3 to burn a cd.
-
If she prints on vinyl - worst comes to worst, I'll have to get it off of YouTube. :-X A vinyl copy would be useless for me.
-

Actually, it does. Vinyl by design has a more limited dynamic range than CD, and on top of that, it's a contact medium. The stylus touches the disc during playback and gradually wears it down. And on top of that, dust and hairs on the disc result in clicks and pops.
Yet all of that does have a certain charm to it.
-
When do you think we're going to get a lead-single?
I'm placing bets on Mid-November, any other predictions? : )
-
I hope you're right, though I get the feeling of the single being released by the end of the year or early next year. Maybe it's just the pessimistic of me.
But anyway, we'll know it soon. She might update us again after she get back to England on Sept. 6.

She's not gonna print exclusively on vinyl, that wouldn't make sense at all. A lot of artists and bands release their albums on CD, digital and vinyl formats; the vinyl is more like a collectible.

I agree. I don't think V has gone too nonconformist to print ONLY on vinyl. Yet. :P

As much as I
love hate to brag, I already have an autographed "black circle" from Vanessa Carlton. She was so thrilled to see that one actually existed! :)

Maybe that was her plan all along. Honestly a lot of artists these days are doing all three printing to vinyl, cd, and mp3. I highly doubt there is any reason to worry. And places like Urban Outfitters sell said vinyls.
-
No way on earth is she NOT doing physical CD's and downloads. I do like vinyl. It has its issues, but so many modern CD's sound like sh**. Smashed, limited, over-compressed....arrggghhh! Vanessa's sound pretty good, though, thanks to Emily Lazar, the mastering engineer for H&T as well as Harmonium, I believe. Sometimes the vinyl can sound better...the Chili Pepper's Stadium Arcadium is an example, because it was a completely different mastering job for the vinyl, whereas sometimes the LP is simply cut from the digital master.
Yes, I know this is geeky.

I know it's a random thing to say, but I just remembered V had mentioned Steve Osborn before on her Twitter account. I looked up who is he, and I found out that he had worked before with KT Tunstall. Coincidence that V is now working on KT's studio or has she managed to track Steve down? Just a thought.
-
Yeah Steve Osborne worked on KT's first two albums and those are amazing. Sadly the third one won't be that good :( but she didn't work with him I believe. I actually would find it weird if Vanessa actually recorded a lot of her album in KT's studio because all time she spent in the UK, basically KT was in the US. Well I don't know but I NEED infos about "Rabbits" :):)
-
Well, we need the same thing. Can't wait for her next tweet.

+1. So many of them are like noise.
