Birdie...

Quote
Birdie
I'm wrapped in the arms of a broken man
And he asks "are you ready?
Cause I'll take you as far as I can
If you would just let me"

Don't you think that I should hold you
Don't you think that's what I should do
So I'm wrapped in the arms of a broken man
But he'll never have me

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby
My pretty"

In this day
And I can't get away
Cause I'm just a bird in a cage with a rage
And he can't step away
Cause I am the girl that he can't save

I'll never know how the moon stays so still
I'll never know how the moon stays so still

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby
My pretty"

Hold me, soothe me, I'm just your doll now scold me
Break me, bruise me, wear me out and soothe me
Love me, love me, love me

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby, don't worry babe

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
Around you and you say "Don't worry, baby
My pretty"

thats what we have on nessaholics.com lyrics page..

as far as i know there are only 2 live recordings of Bridie availiable.
the first one is the one at 'village underground' 3-21-2001 and the lyrics to that one go as follows:

And I'm wrapped in the arms of a broken man
And he asks "are you ready?
`Cause I'll take you as far as I can
If you would just let me"

And don't you think that I should hold you
Don't you think that's what I should do
So I'm wrapped in the arms of a broken man
But he'll never have me

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you'd crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby
oh my pretty"

oh in the city

And I can't get away
`Cause I'm just a bird in a cage with a rage
And he can't run away
`Cause I am the girl that he can't save

I'll never know how the moon sits so still
I'll never know how the moon sits so still

And I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you'd crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby
oh, my pretty"

Ring me, Mold me, I'm just your doll now scold me
and break me, bruise me, oh wear me out and soothe me
and love me, love me, love me, love me

And I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you'd crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby, don't worry babe"

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
Around you and you say "Don't worry, baby
My pretty"

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
oh in the city
oh in the city
oh in the city

.....
now i know that it would be more suitable...
soooooo the lyrics to the newer version go as followed:

And I'm wrapped in the arms of a broken man
And he asks "are you ready?
`Cause I'll take you as far as I can
If you would just let me"

Don't you think that I should hold you
Don't you think that's what I should do
So I'm wrapped in the arms of a broken man
But he'll never have me

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you'd crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby
oh, my pretty"

Oh, oh in the city

Oh, and I can't get away
`Cause I'm just a bird in a cage with a rage
And he can't step away
`Cause I am the girl that he can't save

And I'll never know how the moon sits so still
I'll never know how the moon sits so still

And I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you'd crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby
oh, my pretty"

Hold me, soothe me, I'm just your doll now scold me
and break me, bruise me, oh, wear me out and soothe me
And love me, love me, love me, love me

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
And if I think you'd crush me
You say "Don't worry, baby, don't worry babe"

I've been thrown to wonderworlds
See if I flit and flow just watch me swirl
Around you and you say "Don't worry, babe,
My pretty"

Oh, in the city

I'd rather use the newer 2003 version over the Village Underground ones.

hmmmmmm, this is more of a question...

i just got this strange feeling about meggie sue..
like i now understand the meaning of the song.
lol
oh and i think you may need to change the lyrics because of it.
-----------------read it now.

Floating down An endless river, Passing dive, Touching whatever
Never knowing where you're going but still living every Moment that counts

Stand and linger to sea
Meggie Sue is free
Don’t speak
She just wants to be

Over waves, Up and down, Does not matter, She lives unbound
Consequences pose no threat for she is rising and not Looking down

Stand and linger to sea
Meggie Sue is free
Don’t speak
She just wants to be

Stand and linger to sea
Meggie Sue is free
Don’t speak
She just wants to be
-------

i think we can change 'see' to 'sea' wouldnt that make sence??
i mean i think the song is about a girl drowning herself or something o_0

"Consequences pose no threat for she is rising and not Looking down"
like the consequence of just dumping yourself in a river is ending up in the sea and drowning, but she doesnt care, she wants to go to heaven.
i dont know, maybe it could work both ways too?
support me if you agree or, tell me im stupid in a nice way if you disagree.

oh yeah and i've been meaning to say this for a while..
on Superhero...

I never thought it would be me
Held so high
Fell so far
Mother may I lay my head down
I'm a falling star

it really sounds like "Held so high" instead of "Head so high"
i dont know if it makes sence or not, but really, the more i listen to it, the more it sounds like 'held', not 'head'
 :?

...i mean she DOES say "head" in that song more than once, and that line just does not sound like head.... it sounds like "Held"....

It's held.  *pats on back* for actually reading what Kevin has . . .

I've always thought held anyway.

except she would have to be saying to the sea..

and you are seeing meggie sue being free...

I think "not looking down" means staying positive.

The water is a metaphor for life, the waves and the ups and downs are the struggles.  Though the struggles don't get to her.  She is living "free."

I could keep going..if you don't get it, I will...

Question...

I dunno if someone's mentioned this before but in "Red Ditty", I just noticed it saying instead of
And if in the middle of this final declaration
I walked away
What would you say?

it says midst, atleast in the non-lp version, but somehow I hadn't noticed that before in the other version I have....

Am I hearing it wrong?

there is a studio version where she giggles and a live version where she says "okay that's it."

You can get the non-lp version (meaning the version not on the single, i think) from "kazaa" (or a helpful nessaholic.)
