This is a little off the subject, but the notes in the bridge of Superhero are wrong. I actually know what the correct notes are. I'll have to put the video up on YouTube to show you guys how it's really played. Now I can play along easily to the recording.

Oh, you probably don't know yet but Vanessa transposed it a half-step lower. you can listen to new vids on youtube where Stevie Nicks did a back up for V.

I didn't know that, b/c [due to circumstances too long to explain], I only get to look at videos on YouTube quite sparingly. I was just listening to the song earlier, and I guess either Van thought it was too high for her voice, or just found it easier to play in a key w/ less sharps/flats. I hate transpositions [most of the time], b/c they change the character of the song.  :?

Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / easiset song?

I can't really think of any right now, since I tend to not pick out stuff that's too safe; but if I could tell you, it would be the following:

She Floats [I never learned all of this one; it's too boring]

A Thousand Miles [as fast as this song is, I can get through it w/o a single mistake]

Wanted

The Wreckage [I have trouble getting through this one w/o a mistake]

White Houses [possibly]

Superhero [possibly]

Haven't been here in a while b/c everytime I came here no one really talked about anything particularly new or interesting.

the one is in B min

'The One' is actually in Eb Major. During the bridge it goes into C minor. Anyway, I thought that Pyro's version of 'Best Behavior' was more accurate that Phu's version. No wonder I had such a hard time playing it when I printed out [the first page] of Phu's version. BB is in really A major [so the key signature is correct], but basically starts out on the D chord, then goes into the A chord by the chorus. The other chord progressions are [not in any particular order]: F# minor, C# minor, B, and E [i think].

There's only one problem w/ 'Best Behavior'; the pages are in the wrong order. But I can always fix that when I print them out. I was so happy when I found Pyro's version on the NessFan website b/c now I don't have to print out the pages individually from my ImageShack account. I tried getting BB up on Adobe PDF, but it claimed that the files were too damaged to be put up there. Oh, well, I guess anything's possible.

I think it's in B Minor. I don't really know anything about the Dorian Mode, since I only know songs, except by whether they're in Major or Minor key. [Someone corrected me by saying that Papa is in Eb Dorian, but it's really in Ebm b/c it has 6 flats in the key signature.] But I think you have a point about the Dorian mode b/c it seems to me that it's a cross between F#m, A Major, and Bm. I just got an idea; if you can't really tell what key a song is in, then it's most likely in Dorian mode.

I thought that you wear it on the right until you're actually married and then you switch it over when you are....

I didn't know you could do that... well if VC plans on getting married, then I'm happy for her.

why would you wear an engagement ring on your right hand?

was going to ask the same question....?

Women [and sometimes men] wear their engagement rings on their right ring fingers sometimes; I know I will, so it's not unusual at all. Sometimes the women [even celebs] just wear their wedding ring and the men don't wear one at all. For some odd reason, I don't like wearing two rings on one finger. It's all a matter of preference.

Well, DUH. It's most definitely her, b/c she has distinctive features and her fingers are bony. I know that gorilla nose anywhere. She tends to crook her pinky fingers, whether eating, playing the piano, or whatever. Is that an engagement ring on her right 4th finger? :?:  :?:  :?:

Can anyone tell me what key Sway is in? I have know there to be mistakes in key signatures when songbooks are manufactured [especially by Hal-Leonard]. Is it in Amaj, F#m, or Bm? [I think it's most likely in B Minor, but I'm not sure].

I, too have an ImageShack account, but how did you do this?

Did you know that you can [on ADOBE PDF format] print out 4 pages of sheet music on one sheet of paper [Or print out twice as many on both sides of a sheet of paper]? I wish I'd figured it out much sooner, b/c I would've saved a LOT of paper, not to mention money.

103
Yep. But unfortunately, the guy who did it [who talked an awful lot of junk about Phu's transcribsions] didn't complete it. I hope someone else can, though. I would, but I don't know how to do midis.

Here's a midi sample of the Rinse version of All I Ask:

It's a shame that the person didn't complete this.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Pretty Baby in Ab Major...
« on: February 04, 2007, 03:05:22 pm »
Just yesterday I started learning Pretty Baby and thought it would be neat to bring the song down a half-step. I also found that the song was easier to play [and sing to] when I transposed it b/c it has 4 flats; moreover, I've never played anything in Ab before. There's a song [by a another artist] close to my heart that's in Ab, so I was inspired and got the brilliant idea to transpose Pretty Baby down to that key. I never play V's songs exactly like her b/c as an artist myself, so it's fun to put my own interpretation on her music w/o taking anything from it. It's a good thing that Maag transcribed the song the way she did b/c there's much room for inprovisation, although I'm a little disappointed that she didn't throw in the key change that comes near the end. It's okay, b/c there's room to make the song your own. When I went to musicnotes.com a while back I found that you could transpose the song in different keys.
