Yikes. Let's pray and hope for the best. The tracks that stand out most to me are Bride, Dear California, The Marching Line, and In The End.

If the analog sound is as bad as the reviewer said, it would've been nice if Nessa recorded in regular studio quality for certain songs. I would really like to hear Bride as an upbeat pop track for radio (even though it's perfect as it is, but I'd still like to hear it played on mainstream stations if you know what I mean?)

OK, to throw this topic back on track.

I'll add that it's not only the analog sound (which don't get me wrong, totally works on some tracks)...the quality of the songs differs from track to track. You'll go from crisp, clean vocal tracks on one song, to muddy and flat sounding vocals on the next track (and by flat I mean the way the vocals were processed/mixed -- not her singing). It just doesn't flow right. I wonder if they're doing some extra work on the disc before the release....I did notice the advance disc has slightly shorter run times on the songs....and In The End is almost 20 seconds shorter than the Amazon.co.uk listed length (although, who knows how accurate the Amazon.co.uk listing is)....

You are in no place to judge someone. People have off days maybe she didn't feel like signing anything. She's mentioned she has depression. Also, may I remind you it seems like she has made these past two albums for the fans...I'm sure it was for her too but...I dont think shes doing it for the money. She financed this album herself...she didnt HAVE to make it. She did it for us. Yeah...what a snob.  ::)

These experiences do not reflect in any current review about Rabbits On The Run. I was merely expressing my distaste for her repeated (what I call snobby) behavior in real-person. Perhaps it's because I'm used to AM coming OVER TO US and saying hi, sign autos, chat with us, take individual pictures with us, hug us and thank us repeatedly for our support and show her gratitude to us (as we do her).

vanessa knows a few nessaholics by name.  I think your experiences were exceptions to the rule.

That may be so, however, my experiences aren't the only 'bad taste' ones. That sure is a lot of 'exceptions'. There are plenty of others I've heard about via forums (I believe most were posted on the official VC forum, which doesn't seem to be active anymore?). And since you had already posted a "theory" on why others perceive her this way, it's obviously a known issue within the VC community...and not something that's just coming out of the blue.....

there is also the fact that she MAY have done a meet and greet before the show like she did at the the concert I went to in Feb at the college.  we waited for her after just in case, but she went out a different way than she came in so we missed her.  I don't blame her for that, she probably had a very long day.

No, there was no Meet and Greet at either show. (Though, at the 3EB show, the M+G was after the show -- but this had nothing to do with VC...just 3EB...)

Alright, well that was your experience and that's too bad. You don't know, maybe she was sick, tired, had something else to do. She does not owe us anything. Yes, a hello, wave or whatever is nice but you just don't know. Maybe she didn't see the you all, maybe the assistant didn't give her the message. Didn't want to take someone else's spotlight as it wasn't her show. None of this means she is a snob.

It is about the music and that's all it should be about. Anypersonal interaction is a bonus.

This is way off topic and as soon as I find out where to put it, it will be moved.

No she saw us. She looked at the little girl and then looked at us, and just continued on her way.

I'm not judging her, or anything. I'm stating my experiences, and I've read the same attitude from her from other NON nessaholics. So it's not just an "off day" or whatever you holics are calling it ;)

I totally get how you want to stick up for her, completely understand. I'm not saying you can't have your opinions. Just like I don't expect you to like every AM song either.

just to clarify as well... I was joking when I said lets go cuss them out.  Like I said, after the initial anger wore off, I'm reasonable enough to understand that people have different opinions.  I was angered by someone saying she is a bitch.  I was angered when people put down all three of her albums because I feel they are equally wonderful, but in their own unique ways.  Someone said she has shown no growth, which is BULL honkey if you ask me.  But that's just the thing, like you said eclv, we all have our own opinions, I just don't always appreciate when others don't agree with me hehehe  ;D

Sorry, I still stand by my statement that VC is a huge snob. And I'm not the only one who has said it. First time I saw her in Philly in 02, we were leaving the show, walking to our car about 30 or 40mins after the show had ended (we got a steak sandwich first), and it just so happened VC was walking to her bus in front of us (we had parked in the lot next to where her bus was parked). I spotted her first, but without saying anything we kept walking and sure enough V and her assistant (?) were heading towards the bus, so at this point I knew it was her, and then a little girl (maybe 8years old) who had already been waiting near the bus who saw her coming said "Mommy! it's Vanessa!"...whoever VC was walking with looked at the little girl and said V will sign autographs later, and then they both hurried onto the tour bus and closed and latched the door. We stuck around for about 30mins (mind you, it was December, so pretty chilly out)....V never came out and the look on the 8 years old face was sadness. Her assistant did come out and say that V was on the phone or some BS excuse....I just remember the look on that little girl's face. It's not like a herd of people were bombarding her, just myself, my friend, and the little girl (her parents didn't seem interested in V lol). That just rubbed me the wrong way.

Later on, at a show in October 04, Vanessa did the same thing, there were a few more fans this time tho, she quickly ran onto the bus and didn't even say Hi or thanks to the fans. Pure snob moment.

There was also a show in my area (Allentown, Crocodile Rock) where she attened a 3rd Eye Blind show, when she got out of the van heading into the show, she ran right inside, where as 3EB (albeit briefly) did wave and sign a few autographs. Not her tho. Quick, get inside, SUNLIGHT! OH NOEZ! I can't totally blame her here tho, I mean, it wasn't exactly her fanbase, but a few people did yell Vanessa...no acknowledgement, nothing. Just right inside.

Well, that's my opinion....maybe she's changed in years past...but those incidences just rubbed me the wrong way. If you weren't a hardcore fan, and you got snobbed like that, would your opinion on that artist differ? I don't think so.

Hopefully that clears some things up. Nothing was said to be hurtful to anyone. Just opinions on that matter.

okay, that first review came from a person on alanis morrisette's website, and they are all very mean.  I am almost in tears, my heart is pounding about some of the things people have said.  I think we should all join just to cuss them out!  i didn't write anything about how she is not what they say she is because I just can't find the words.  maybe someone else could articulate better than I.

How are we mean?

The low quality encoding on the amazon samples masks the details of the tracks.

Judging from the new clips it does have that analog sound but I don't hear the issues the first reviwer complained about, they all sound pretty awesome :3

Because you're listening to a 48kbps horrible quality mp3 sample. There's no detail in the samples.

Hey,

Bad news first.
Vanessa was VERY UNKIND to me. We parked on 4th Street (I think) parking lot. And her bus was parked right on that street in front of the parking lot. As we were walking back to the car after the show she was walking with Angie (her friend I guess?) and just about to get on the bus and I ran up to her and said Vanessa could you sign this please! She got on the bus and Angie said she will be out in a few minutes after she changes. So we waited. We were the ONLY ones standing there out in the -7 degree weather. Me and my friend, it would have taken 2 seconds to autograph our cds and get a quick picture. But nope, we waited 20mins and nothing. Shows how much Vanessa appreciates her fans! We are the ones that make her famous, and she can't autograph 2cds and a quick picture, tsk tsk.

Now the GREAT NEWS:

I recorded the whole show on audio. I will have a sample clip/song up later tonight.

If you want a copy give me an email at fan1alanis219@aol.com

I will have further information on the recording later on. But I know it sounds awesome.

Well anyways, it was still a good show.
