Can Vanessa Carlton go platinum again with her 3rd album?

I'm not a pessimist, I really want Vanessa to do well again! It's just that most of what is on popular radio is Hip-Hop or Rap and Vanessa really doesn't fit either of those genres (quite obviously).

About the hardcore fan thing, I don't care how popular or unpopular Vanessa's music becomes. I think that all (or at least most of us) on this forum would buy her next album. I know I would.

Only problem with us being Vanessa's niche is that we aren't a huge niche.

Like I said, though, I'd be delighted if Vanessa's album sold well, or if she became popular again. I do think, however, that she doesn't have a place on the popular radio charts, but she does have a place on the Adult Contemporary Charts. The biggest radio station in Louisville is an Adult Contemporary station and "White Houses" was played on it. We could pretty much consider it a moderate hit. But if she has a single a bit better than "White Houses", and her label promotes it and the album well, then I think she'll do great!

I think if The One and This Time as well as PYHOM are on the album it probably will do better than Harmonium because honestly I think Harmonium was a bit of a departure from BNN. I think with or without the label the people that bought Harmonium were more or less her hardcore fanbase. The songs on the next album will probably have wider appeal. That's just my take on it.

I actually think Harmonium is better than Be Not Nobody.

Harmonium is so profound and so delicately crafted.  It's a fine work. :D

SInce I bought Harmonium, I've hardly listened to BNN at all... I think I've only listened to "Wanted" a few times... it definitely showcases her better as an artist

I wrote a review about Harmonium one time for sputnikmusic.com and I gave it a *****/5 stars rating. People were confused. To me it was very simple. Harmonium = brilliant album. Am I the only one who thinks that way?

No, you're right. Harmonium is a brilliant album
I just prefer the songs on Bnn and the production and lyrics and piano and everything on it... Bnn is perfect to me.

I loved BNN too, but I do like Harmonium more, because sometimes imperfection is better than perfection. Try "False Advertising" by Bright Eyes...

Harmonium sounded real... BNN was good, but to the point where "perfect" begins to sound too perfect, like real becomes fake... if that makes sense. I know Nessa expressed that thought in some interview. I think everything about Harmonium is better, especially the singing... apart from having improved her range, control, etc, she sounds so much more... comfortable

Cause she probably was. Didn't she record part of it in a home studio?
