I always knew Annie was a good song, but today when i really listened closely to the lyrics, i realized was a sad song it really is!!

"...the doctor says it wont be long..."
"A day out from the county ICU" ICU=INTENSIVE CARE UNIT!!
"...shes like a piece of summer..." (a few lines later) "..and summer dies and nothing lasts forever..."
"I'll keep fingers crossed always for you."

It is such a heartrendingly good song.
