Tennis - Davis Cup
« on: December 02, 2004, 09:47:42 am »

The final round begins tomorrow in Seville, with the first of 5 matches between the Spanish and American teams. Matches will go on from tomorrow til Dec 5th

Opening match will be Carlos Moyá against Mardy Fish tomorrow at noon (Spanish time), which would be 6 am East Coast time in the US.

The biggest surprise is the election of 18-year-old Rafa Nadal as the second singles participant for Spain (behind Moyá) instead of Juan Carlos Ferrero.

I honestly think Spain isn't going to win, as much as I hate to admit it. No Spanish player out of the 4 in the team has had an extraordinary season, unlike Roddick, for instance.

Anyone planning on watching?

there's only four seasons
and this one's almost gone
these nights feel so good
but this one's almost gone

I probably will. I love tennis!

Go Slovakia and France 2005! USA.... maybe, but those two especially!

And Juan Carlos Ferrero went blah in 2004, Nadal's on fire. I'm not very surprised by that move. Spain plays Slovakia first round of the World Group 2005. Interesting.

I am cheering for USA tomorrow, sorry.

Moyá just beat Fish, 6-4, 6-2, 6-3. Good that Spain has won this relatively easy point cos this afternoon Roddick plays against Nadal, which I'm sure won't give Spain a point.

When I woke up, brother was watching some tennis game (don't ask me why he didn't go to school lol I've no idea) and it was the Davis Cup. I didn't know what it was till it was over (*bad Jules bad Jules*)

Then I was wondering if Nerea had already started a thread bout it haha

Hm yeah, why did they choose this Rafa dude instead of Ferrero??

Because Ferrero SUCKS. I saw him play this summer.... he's really lost his touch. My man Arnaud Clement almost beat him. I'm ashamed he didn't.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

SPAIN WON!!

Shame I missed all the matches cos I was away  :?  I really wish I could have seen at least the last one!

The only one I saw a little bit of was the doubles one and Ferrero & Robredo were playing so badly I could cry. What on earth has happened to Ferrero??  8O  A year ago he was winning Roland Garros and now he can't hit a ball straight!

Nerea I'm so glad you posted!  I was thinking about you yesterday when I read about the ETA bombings at the gas stations.  Hope you're doing ok.

Wait, is Feli on the Spain team? He's one of my fave male players.

Aw, no don't worry I'm perfectly fine. The bombings (NONE of them, surprisingly!) have been anywhere near me, which is strange. Luckily they haven't killed anyone, those bastards. It's scary though, these bombings have been like a wake up call, just to show the whole country they're still there... which makes me think they might kill someone soon - let's hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for thinking of me though. It's really sweet of you

I see. Feli is awesome. He waxes his legs, but he's cool.
