but in all seriousness, can you take truthful responses from various people about why/why not they may not like/dislike you?  Is it important to you to determine what others like/don't like about you?

I'm probably the most objective person here as i haven't really been involved with anything, but if you've done anything like you noted in your poll options, i might not like you either

On average, people don't like being made fun of, talked down to, or talked about behind their back.  ya know?

yea i have noticed this for a while, the polls are very buggy... i haven't spent the time to actually look at the code and see how they do polls -- i guess i'll have to do that, or bribe someone else to.

i'll check to see if anyone has reported anything.

and as a reply to your edit keith...
if you said something mean to someone, that shows a bit about your character towards other people.  If people are upset about it, it could be hard for them to "get over it."  People tend to protect themselves from say you hurting them based on what they observe you doing to other people.  Are you saying you did something like that in the past, and you've since changed?   8O   *curious*

but if the things you say can hurt people... why say them?  you enjoy hurting people?  I mean, obviously i could say things against certain people that i come into contact on a daily basis that would hurt them as well but i choose not to say them because well, it's just mean =)

If something someone says on the internet can hurt you really, then that's pathetic.
I never became a NESSAholic to make friends, the fact is alot of people only come on the old board to make friends. But I damn sure have made some enimies and don't really care.
Until you know me, you can't really judge me. And the same holds true the other way around. I don't know any of you all personally, so I can't all judge you.
I can honestly say that I have never taken anything on this board REALLY serious and given it thought when I log out.

A lot of things that someone can say on the internet can hurt you.. not only emotionally but could hurt your career, friendship with other people etc.  The internet is just a communication method like anything else... and there are people on the other end.  They shouldn't be treated different then someone you run into at a coffee shop just because you can't see their face and you're talking to them over a computer.

If you didn't come to a forum to make friends, what was the goal?  To discuss various topics (like this) with other people?  Did you come with the intent to make enemies?  Why don't you care that you have enemies?  I'm sure people exist that don't like me, and that really doesn't matter to me either... but if the volume of people that didn't like me was more then the number of people that did i would begin to wonder what might be wrong with how i am interacting with other people.

are you saying though that no one can get to know you as long as they're on the internet?  However should they get to meet you in person, etc, then they could judge you as they would know you?  It seems that perhaps you might be contradicting yourself as if you have said mean or harmful things about people over the internet, then you were at one point judging them, were you not?

Actually, my cynical behavoir is just satirical observation. It doesn't matter to me how others take it.
I guess people can't be silly and speak truth at the same time anymore.
Alot of my comments about a certain person was just a blantant attempt to get people to acknowledge the fact that people take things a bit too seriously. you're so vain you probably think that post was about you, don't you? you know who you are *points finger*
