Reason why I was asking. It isn't exactly an easy question. GNU isn't UNIX, as the acronym suggests. There is much more.
I know GNU isn't Unix... *twitch*...
Anyway, there is a greater classification that encompasses all such systems. Solaris isn't what I'm fishing for.
Well... solaris is an OS that runs on a specific "system."... perhaps rephrasing the question would be helpful.
Non-GNU is a start though. I generally replace the stuff with GNU anyway. Some of the other CLI packages really suck.
I specifically run FreeBSD but on a few solaris boxen at work, i run all GNU stuff... is the answer you're targeting like, IRIX or SGI equiv machines/operating systems?
