I still really love doing this too! :D

When I have time, I'll post some of mine.  I think, If the mix tape maker is making the CD for themself and not as a gift, it can reveal a lot about that person's personality and moods.

I less than three this thread.  though, half the fun of making mixtapes was that you had to sit and listen to the music as it was being recorded onto the tape.... it was a time investment, and you learned to love the music.  It's not as involved now, but still fun.

I try to make one every year and save the playlist to my PC to remind me what it was I was listening to that year.

I didn't make one for 2005 EOY... so here's what it WOULD look like.

Grak's best of 2005.
Falloutboy - Dance, Dance
Fiona Apple - Not About Love
Ani Difranco - Lag Time
Rob Thomas - Something to Be
The Transplants - American Guns
Straylight Run - Exesentialism on Prom Night
Gorillaz - Feel Good, Inc.
The White Stripes - My Doorbell
Jack Johnson - Bananna Pancakes
My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Ok
Anna Nalick - Wreck of the Day
Hawthornw Heights - Ohio is for Lovers
Our Lady Peace - Where are You
Lifehouse - You and Me
Better Than Ezra - A Southern Thing
If you are reading this, you are probably on my ignore list.  Click here to return the favor

Oh yeah, I remember that!
I used to write down the time of each song so I could fit as many as possible on each side of the tape! haha

Indeed 8) Plus working out just where you should begin to fade out any 'dead
track' likely to hinder attempts to fit as much as possible on the 90Min. tape  8O

Steph, I absolutely love the concept of your 1/05 tape; Malibu hills for sure

I used to go to extreme lengths with the ordering to make sure that no song was split on the A-B side change. Nothing worse than having a song cut off half way through and restart after 15 seconds of silence.

Tapes suck and I'm glad they're gone, but it did seem that 90 minutes was the optimum mix tape duration. 60 -70 for Audio CDRs was too short and the many hours of an mp3 CD is just too long, ends up full of track skip fodder.

Oh I like this thread! Fun!

I burnt a bunch of mixed CDs for friends over Christmas, with no theme in particular except it being the music I like. This would be one of them:

1. Omaha - Counting Crows
2. New Slang - The Shins
3. Fascinate You - Ari Hest
4. I'm Still Here - Veritcal Horizon
5. Why Georgia - John Mayer
6. Love Will Come Through - Travis
7. Something Honest - Curtis Peoples
8. Princess - Matt Nathanson
9. Long Day - Matchbox 20
10. Small Town Boy - Josh Kelley
11. Nice To Meet You (Anyway) - Gavin DeGraw
12. That For You - Matt Wertz
13. 0% Interest (live) - Jason Mraz
14. Chin Up, Cheer Up - Ryan Adams
15. Lucky To Know You - Blue Merle
16. Sitting, Waiting, Wishing - Jack Johnson
17. I Am - Michael Tolcher
18. Morning After - Howie Day
19. Late Night Radio - David Gray
20. What Am I Gonna Do - Dave Barnes

:) That CD pretty much sums up my taste in music, I would say.

there's only four seasons
and this one's almost gone
these nights feel so good
but this one's almost gone
