Hero's and Theives-Good or Bad

I disliked it, then it kind of grew on me and I learned how to play it on piano, and now I'm starting to dislike it again. It's really repetitive, and with the words it's ok, but if you just play the piano part without singing... you'd understand what I'm saying. And I usually really enjoy playing VC songs on piano, they are usually really fun even if they are easy.

you're not allowed to change your mind that much.
but yea, the piano is strangely simple in this song... makes me wonder if maybe she wrote the words first for this one? just speculating.

Agreed! I really like it, a song that is TERRIBLE is Prince.

for me, Prince is definitely the worst song of hers. i really like heroes and thieves, i hope she doesn't over do it on the studio version with drums and electric guitars because it sounds so sublimed with just vocals and piano.

It's not my favorite, but I do like it. I really REALLY love Best Behavior, though. "No Matter What I Do, It's Only You." Great.

This song is a total mind trip for me.  I'm not sure it is first single material but that would depend on how it is produced.  I think it has a lot of good potential  for a first single but again that would really depend on how it is produced;  with the right instruments, layering, and orchestration of the different instruments it is possibly a very good recorded song.  It sounds as if is written for more than just the piano right from the start so it doesn't sound complete or totally right with just the piano.  What we have heard so far shows a skeleton of the full potential of the song.  It is probably a good secondary song which provides the name for the album if nothing else.  I must have listened to it a billion times.  I have a reserved fascination with it.  I don't know what to think.  I really don't.  Not about it's lyrical interpretation at least I don't.  I feel delusional about that.

I completely agree. I think I said it before but some of her lyrics on this version are off key. I'm sure the studio version will be up to par and this was just an off day for V and somehow it ended up on the internet. I like the song okay but hope it will be better with the studio version. ...which is strange because I usually like her live versions with just her voice and the piano better than studio cuts.

I love the way the lyrics flow in this song. it's a total story telling tune... The melody reminds me of a music box. I look forward to hearing the final studio version which I am sure will sound a   bit different.
