well Mal, no one likes to be told they are wrong or how to do things right, everyone wants to figure it out themselves,  irregardless i still have the urge to tell them..... :|

Yeah well, they're living in denial. It never will change. They're too stubborn. They are like stone mules. They will not budge because "it's their house, I live under their roof, they make the rules, I'm the child, I must abide because what they say goes".

Oh my goodness, this sounds so familiar.  My parents are like that...and I'm 21.  (will be 22 this July)

Arrrrggg.  We need to start a support group for children of parents who act unreasonably.  I don't understand why they can't trust me to make good decisions.  I have common sense for goodness sake.  And now that I'm asserting myself and showing that I can control my own life, they're panicking and trying to lay down more rules - like a midnight curfew for instance.  Oh, and my mother just stole my cell phone this weekend.  What's that about???  She says I "don't deserve it".  Wha???  So now when I'm out of the house, she can't reach me?  What if the car breaks down in an isolated neighborhood with woods and serial killers?  Then what?  My parents are so irrational it makes me want to yell.  (I can't yell though because I'm sick with a sore throat.)   :P

Joey!! I know exactly what you mean with the whole cell phone thing.

Also, I get yelled at by adults, no matter what happens. Even if it's not my fault. I remember, I was yelled at by my Mom when we foud out my cousin had a brain tumor. I guess she was just stressed, I don't know. Things like that happen a lot. And, I'm not allowed to do some things because my brother does stupid shit, my parents become parnoid, and that's how the story goes. I hate it.

If only my parents were like your Joe...

Freshlettuce--I don't know why you put up with it... why don't you just move out? Or get a room mate and live somewhere else where you don't have to put up with them?

Our parents sound exactly the same... You get your cell phone taken away, ... I get my bedroom door taken away. (Yes, I said my bedroom door.)

ACTUALLY I don't have a bedroom door at the moment . . .well that's only because it rained on memorial day weekend, so my dad decided it was a perfect time to finish the hardwoods in the hall outside my room.  Then he kinda got on a roll and took down all the molding and doors and decided to replace them.  But yeah, no bedroom door sucks.

All I had was a frame for a closet in my room for like, 3 months. It was awful! I had everything nice and neat, (because that's how my room always is. Weird, I know), and then have these ugly-ass 2x4s nailed to my walls, ceiling, etc. :\

I have to put up with it because they pay for college.     (Did I mention that I have to commute to school to save them money?  Arrrg.)

Woah, so they are punishing you by, um, forbidding you your privacy?  What do you do now when you need to be alone?  Hide out in the bathroom or in the closet?  Hmmm.  That's a tough situation to be in.

my mom always threatens to take away my door... but she never really has, even tho when she's mad at me she forces me to leave it open...
my mom has taken away (most of which i have gotten back) my phone, my cell phone, my computer.. etc... and i'm not allowed to go to concerts but she'll let me stay out till like 3am every weekend and doesnt really care where i go.
she wanted to take away my WB internship this summer... but i was like "it'll help for college and my career" so she didnt go there.
