BOA
« on: November 16, 2003, 11:30:40 pm »
This is a strange way to find a band but, I was watching Anime Unleashed on TechTV and heard this great song during the opening credits of a movie called "Serial Experiments Lain."  I Googled some of the lyrics and was able to find the name of the song and the band!  The band is called "Boa" and they are from the UK.  The song I heard is called "Duvet" and you can download it from their website.  It's a VERY cool song and the singer "Jasmine" has a really great voice!  She sounds a little bit "Dido-ish." (Just a little)

Their site:

The song "Duvet":

Download "Duvet!"  Trust me, it's a really cool song! :-D http://www.boaweb.co.uk/audio/duvet.mp3  There's a remix of it in their audio section that is pretty cool too.  Boa's website.

Interesting Boa fact:  The lead singer, Jasmine, and the guitarist, Steve, are sister and brother, and the children of Paul Rodgers, legendary lead singer/frontman of bands such as "Free," "Bad Company," and "The Firm."

*Disclaimer:  No, I don't know these people (although I wish I did).  I just really like the song "Duvet." :)

Yay!  Thanks for trying it out, Let!  :-D  I don't know why I love that song so much, I just do. :)

Btw, just my opinion, if you thought "Duvet" was just "okay" you might not really like the rest of the stuff.  "Duvet" is probably their best song.  At least from what I've heard.

Yeah I tried the song too. It isn't bad, but I will have to listen to it more to see if it strikes me.

Same here... I love the song.... but I do dig similar styles like Dido & Sarah McL, so it wasnt to much of a stretch.

You don't have to listen more for my sake.  My second request for people to listen to it was just because only Vulture had replied and I thought everyone was just ignoring me because I don't really post anymore.  Haha.  That's understandable and I don't expect anyone to reply, but I just thought people weren't giving it a chance.  Thanks for trying it though, Bling. :-D

Yeah that' s probably what it is.  I like some of Dido's stuff and I love Sarah McLachlan's stuff so maybe that's what catches my ear.  I think the band is great too and what they do with the music really makes the song.  The drummer is pretty incredible.

No prob, Let.  As I said above in my response to Brian, I thought that people were just plain ignoring my post and weren't giving the song a try.    Now I know better, if people aren't replying then it doesn't necessarily mean they didn't try it, it probably just means that they didn't like it.  Or, like me, maybe they just didn't feel like posting?  Who knows?  Haha.  Thanks again! :-D

Well I always try to listen to things more than once and in more than one sitting because sometimes a song will not hit me at first, but I will appreciate it the more I listen to it.  :)
