Yes, I believe Onan died because of what he did to his late brother, and denying him the continuance of his line, which was his brotherly duty.  I didn't see it anywhere in the Five Books where God commanded people not to masturbate.  And whether you have premarital or extramarital sex or not, if you are convicted of sin, it's your duty to confess it to God (and you can use the direct line) and ask forgiveness.  Though it's outright abuse of God's grace to do whatever you want to do just to ask for forgiveness in the end, how much better it is to ask for that forgiveness than not to and burn for it!

also- what i thought was funny is that a book we had in "religion" class my sophomore year of highschool said that catholics believe masturbation is a sin because it is selfish and god said to not be selfish.

Reguarding your other point, I don't think God cares whether or not we have pre-marital sex or not. If it's illegally or with prostitutes, that probably doesn't look good on the resume, but I think he's going to focus more on the big picture, you know, accepting him into your heart throughout your whole life. I really do get where you're coming from, Jophess. Sex is a big deal, but becuase of its importance, many have come to see it as some kind of evil. It is one thing to make love to the one you love, and another to go about having sex with many people and breaking hearts, basically treating others badly or using them through sex. It is not healthy. However if anyone here chooses that lifestyle, I'm not here to argue with your choice, I am simply stating that I disagree with it. I also believe that to have a good relationship with God, one needs to see the picture of a loving, accepting and forgiving God, not a condemning one- becuase then, one's choices will be made from fear (a fear of Hell/damnation), rather than love and with sincerity.

I was making a joke, as it is funny that it was somehow considered a "duty" to commit what we now know as adultery. I don't care when it happened, it doesn't make it all fine and dandy. If you want to argue about the Bible, go to Bible college. I did. But I don't like arguing, particularly when people refuse to think for themselves. Wait, let me check...  Nope, no penalty for curiosity in my book!   I don't know really.  I just liked her name better, and plus, I'd been wanting a change of name anyway (to include a few other family names, for like eight years prior to meeting her).  So I went before the chancery court and now I have a name that'll barely fit on one line (or won't, depending on the width of the column).
