"Vanessa dark"

So we've all heard her mention that our girl has a few "dark" songs of her own... which ones do you guys consider to be dark?  I'm asking because every week, I do a show and each time, I play at least one Vanessa cover... but since I limit myself to only playing depressing music, there are only a few I can choose from.  Just yesterday I played "Dark Carnival" and "Rinse" (live version).  

I haven't gotten any of them recorded live or anything, but if you want to hear my stuff that I've written, here's my myspace artist page:

In my opinio, her darker songs are She Floats, Wanted, Prince, and Paradise.

If you go onto my bio section of my myspace, it explains why I sing sad songs.  But if you're too lazy for that or whatever, I guess I'll just tell you now, really quickly.

When I was younger and felt sad, I would turn on the radio, only to hear all this happy, pop filled crap on the radio.  I wanted to make music that would comfort me when I was depressed, not  rub everything in my face.  I just wanted to listen to sad songs... is that too hard to ask for?  I have written one non-corny like-ish song, and surprisingly, I like it.

I've considered doing "She Floats" live, but I don't know if it would sound good or not.  Also, I just printed out "All I Ask" so that should be ready soon.  

I found 2 versions of "Birdie".  Which one do you guys play?  One looks complicated and one is simple.  I think I could handle the complicated one.

but i do understand the explanation, and i feel you on that. no offense intended.. it just sounded weird when you said, "i only play depressing songs." *shrug*

I didn't really consider it that dark based on just the track itself, but how can you leave out Pretty Baby given the stalkerish/kidnapping plot of the video?

Yeah, I don't consider Prince as a dark song either... in terms of her unreleased songs, I've got the following:

All I Ask
Birdie
All is Well (well, new)

That's about it... maybe Swindler?

You should try to download Greensleeves, that's definately the darkest song from Vanessa. It grives me the creepes when I listen to it yet it is supposed to be a Christmas song  :roll:

"Greensleeves" is actually not a Christmas song at all.  It's an old English song, the words to which are often attributed to King Henry, I believe, though I don't know if there's any fact in that.  The tune to the song, however, is often used for the Christmas song "What Child Is This?"
