From the occasional serious posts there I know they are intelligent. If you go to the About Us section you'll see the site is a SATIRE site designed to lampoon people who speak and act like this, and also to poke fun at tabloid fascination with celebrities. I personally find this kind of humour ridiculously funny. I mean, I guess that's because I understand that theres no harsh meanings behind the words.
Sometimes fans let their blind love for someone become too defensive.
Words like slut and bitch don't always have to be offensive, whilst they are in a widely social situation, are definitely not on a blog like this. They are part of a standard vocab on this kind of site. It may not be to your tastes but i just think you guys shouldn't see it as an attack on her character, because there is no way that writer would even promote her single if he or she didn't like Vanessa Carlton.
