Spring Street-white houses??
« on: October 12, 2007, 11:39:45 am »
Well the first time I listened I thought maybe she was referring to the same guy in spring street that was in white houses-

'I've been living with some friends...left him by the statue'

'With some strange new friends...he's my first mistake'

I don't know, maybe its just me

That's so weird because I always compared Spring Street with Who's To Say.  I think Who's To Say is kinda about acceptance and moving on/growing up and In Spring Street V says 'I left you by the statue, your eyes were wet with tears...Mother you know you had to let me go even after all these years...'  Anyone else make the comparission?

I kind of made that comparison too. It's like she is telling a story and "White Houses" is the beginning, "Who's To Say" is the middle, and "Spring Street" is the end.

Nolita Fairytale sounds like a sequel to White Houses. They're both lead singles and they tell a story. Um... that's about it.

Why the end?

I think the songs do sort of connect in their themes and it's a nice comparison, but musically I think they're pretty different. I think we connect them as being somewhat biographical because Vanessa sometimes draws up such specific images in her lyrics, as opposed to her some of her songs with more general lyrics. I think it's pretty interesting.

That idea of WH, WTS, and SS being a triad and telling a story is really cool. I can definitely see that.
I waste the days away
Waiting on a new age
But time betrays me
And I get older one more year
