Brevet-Official Exams...anyone heard of them?

Here in Lebanon we have to take official government exams at the end of 9th grade to see if were ready to pass on to high school levels.
We have Brevet-Francais which is what the French based schools do.
But since my school is English based....we do English-Brevet.

4 days of exams which include:

history (in Arabic)
social studies (in Arabic)
geography (in Arabic)
English language
math (in English)
biology (in English)
chemistry (in English)
physics (in English)


This year we start on June 31st and end on July 3rd
We get around a month as a  STUDY LEAVE (retraite in French)


I am so scared!!!!!!!


anyway the point of this topic was to see if anyone else has heard of this??
I think these exams are done in France as well...?? I'm not sure :razz: LOL

I had to take a 4 hour test to be accepted in my high school. It was hard, but not nearly as difficult as that sounds. You sound like you really care about it, so my guess is you'll totally be prepared and do fine. Best of luck.

jeeze that sounds tough. I just took a one our test on general math, english and science called the Explorer test when entering high school... I will be taking several AP tests next year. That will be scary!

That sounds like the equivalent of our HSC. But we do it in order to enter university, not high school. We get to choose our own subjects, the only compulsory subject it english.

The subjects i do are:

English (4 hour exam)
Maths (2.5 hour exam)
Ancient History (3 hour exam)
Biology (3 hour exam)
Business studies (2 hour exam)
History Extension (2 hour exam)

Looks like your exams are more demanding than mine since you have 8 subjects in 2 languages.  :?

yes i think it is very hard and demanding! :? :?
and i forgot to list Arabic Language in the list of exams we have to take :lol:

Arabic,English and Math are 2 hours long
The rest is all 1 hour long i think....or 1.5...not sure yet :razz:

I am trying my best to catch up with everything before the end of the year so i wont be cramming everything in with less than a month to do so during the study leave.

I am not that great at Arabic since it's my second language (i was born and raised in the USA by an American mother and a Lebanese father, but now we all live here in Lebanon! )
But at least i know I have English as a strong point to raise up my over all grade :lol:

Yep I took the explorer test too. It kind of sucked because I had to take it because I went to a public grammer school, but I'm going to a Catholic high school and I had take the HSPT then too. Long tests suck

those are LONG tests!
I would die if i had still and quiet for that long :lol: :lol:

In the us we do finals, midterms and if you're taking an AP [Advanced PLacement] class you have to take a test for that.
