8/8/08 - Chicago House of Blues (Review)
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:07:48 pm »
Hey! Well I just got back from the show well to my house from Chicago. It was a pretty good show I may add! There was a freaky moment after the first song were her microphone stand was like drooping so she said something like "where's the viagra?" it was hilarious! Here is the set list, thought not in order but the songs

Ordinary Day
Hands on Me
Nolita Fairytale
White Houses
Heroes & Thieves
Who's To Say
The One
Half a Week before the Winter
Home
More than This
A Thousand Miles

A lady came out and sang The One with Vanessa. The same lady sang a song with Ali. But I forgot her name.
She played White Houses, Nolita and Heroes & Thieves  with a band. A guy on guitar, forgot his name but I think a few people knew him that were there b/c they kept shouting his name. A guy in cello. and a guy on percusion. some maraca thing and this like floor drum thing and the drums. It was an awesome show. No one was rude, she spoke about songs and it was just great! oh and Ali came on and did trumpet on hawbtw. About the scrapbook. I got to my friends house a day later I was supposed to show up Wed. to work on it but had to work so I got there thur. afternoon. We had already printed some stuff out but only like 12 out of the 28 so we were going to go and print the stuff out but her computer messed up (b/c of that huge storm thing in the chicago area on Monday) and so were had no internet. We got the scrapbook done with what we had but we did not want to give her it without everyone that we got in it. So we decided to save it for next time and than that way we can have more people and have it be a bigger scale thing. After the show she had a meet and greet by the coat check. Hugged her signed my ticket, and asked about t-shirts. But they ran and and I said that was bad and she said 'Well yeah but its good too because they were some cool shirts' I said yeah I saw a few on the nessaholics forums, that is pictures of, but she said they were going to put them on her website so we shall see. Pictures. HOB was very strict with cameras. They like searched your bags and used a metal detector on you and stuff. if you brought a camera you had to give it to them and pay them $5 to store it, , but we got it after wards. We did not stay for Joshua but heard him in the background. Not to be mean but eh he did not sound so good, just not music I would listen to. Ali was ok herself but a few songs were annoying to me because she added A LOT of "hums and da da de and ooo aaayay" type of stuff to the songs. But she was cool.

Here is a picture of me and V. I look like a dork.

Thanks for sharing your review. Sorry you didn't get your project done. Probably a good idea you waited.

That's too bad but good that they ran out of the shirt but like she said good too!

Yay for getting to say hi to her!!

I was there, and sadly I had a terrible time with people in the crowd. I was there with a camera (had a photo pass) and people were terribly rude.
I'll get over this in a few days hopefully.
I posted a photo over in the pictures thread.

Here's another..

What part of the area were you in? This time were not in the front were like in the middle. Most of the people in the area we were in were nice and were singing along and stuff. Can't wait to see the other pictures.

I had a wonderful time. She was lovely and was very friendly. I think there was a very good and appreciative crowd there and I think V really realized that. It's always worth the 4 hours to Chicago to see Vanessa.

Awesome! Did you get to say hi too? I hope you told her you drove 4 hours to see her. She ususally says, I hope it was worth it. And we say, we wouldn't do it or have seen you 40+ times if it wasn't.

But really, she hasn't been touring a whole bunch, so I would have probably done the same.

Yes she was very appreciative! And she really had a good vibe going on. I saw her interacting with a 9 year old fan, and this sounds lame but honestly it was touching. She was just so sweet. Very proud of V.

haha you guys should have put your camera in your pants and said you had some sort of Fallic piercing. My friend did that once and put two cameras in her bra and said she had nipple piercings.
haha I don't know if that's vulgar but it works. haha
Peace

I don't care if people bash on me, but it was a terrible performance. The worst I have seen. I flew out to Chicago from LA to see her, I was in the foundations room/VIP with Joshua Radin and some others and it was sad to hear people saying, "Ew, I don't want to see Vanessa Carlton." I just kept quiet hoping the show would prove them wrong...I don't know if she was sick, her voice is shot for good, but it was awful. She seemed like she didn't care, she said she would be in the back signing merch because her management told her so. She looked irritated and she wasn't as chatty or friendly with fans or during the performance and I've seen her plenty of times to know. I was disappointed but I didn't let it ruin the rest of my trip in the windy city. Bash all you want, I don't know who she is anymore.

You know that Dirrty feeling when you wake up with no pants on face down on the floor of the city bus and you got like a condom in your ear? Thats the feeling we are trying to create! - Sarah Michelle Gellar
