Any Tips For New Bands?
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:29:35 pm »
I wasn't sure if I should put this in 'Completely Off-Topic' or 'Creative Endeavors'.

But anyway...I'm trying to start a band (Half successful (sp?) so far), I have me(Vocals, guitar) and another guitarist.

I just want to know if anyone here has any experience with this sort of thing and could offer some advice or tips?
That's what she said.

Wow, VanessaCarltonMania, you're better off than I am so far. I only have me(Guitar/lead vocals) and a guitarist. I'm trying to find a bassist and a drummer at the moment.

LOL
That is only because they are all my friends...

But here's a tip:

If it is YOUR band....DO NOT let them walk all over you and tell you what songs to do and stuff...
I havent even had the idea for a week and already the bassist is complaining because it's all "Chick Rock", and he's refusing to do it ! LOL
(Avril Lavigne,Kelly Clarkson,Everlife,Paramore....)
Im just gonna get someone else or make a compromise...he plays my songs...i sing a few of his choices

maybe you could do some covers of v, but with your own style or ask him what he would like to do, and maybe throw that in but with your own personal touches here and there throughout the song.
