Okay, I'll probably get unmercifully ridiculed for starting this topic, and maybe justifiably so.

I'm usually very good at ignoring anything associated with Disney *cringe*, but I get this ATT Blue Room online newsletter and this Demi Lovato is recently featured. They're hosting a 11-song concert at the site, and I gotta say I'm more impressed than I thought I'd be. Don't get me wrong, her songs defintely aren't that great at this point, but (unless they're totally pulling the wool over my eyes) she seems to have some real merit as a live performer. http://att.innovyx.net/r?xJTWccPEWqPEJJlvPvvW

Maybe I'm just ready for a young rocker (age 16) artist who rocks harder than Avril. Maybe I'm hoping she can mature into something legit? I'm on the fence....

my friend calls her demi retardo. lol. i havent heard her music or anything. my friend just says shes annoying at the jonas brothers concert.

one of my friends' little sister or her friends little sister (i forget) met her & she came back crying..& not in a good way.

she's talented, but i can't get into someones music who makes little kids cry. at least Miley seems nice to her fans (can't believe i'm sticking up for Miley).

I'll write that off as sorta of a Hanson phenomina, i.e., jealousy. Fans of Hanson would hate any girl artist who would open for them.

Or at least subconscious jealousy. Ever go onto gossip websites and notice how the posters have nothing but nasty comments for the female celebrities, but have nothing but praise for the male ones? Most of the posters are women/girls.

As for "rocking harder than Avril", I don't think so. She covers Avril's "Daydream" and changed the lyrics to be more "appropriate". I figure that if you're catering to a 10-year-old audience, it's pretty hard to rock out. Same goes for the Jonas Brothers themselves.

That being said, I hope her album is more like her first single than the awful awful awful awful "This Is Me".

That's why I said I'm ready for someone to outrock Avril and hoping she can mature into something legit. I don't know much about your little specific example, but I don't think that's enough to say it can't happen.

I find the more I review and check, the more I like. The new single "Get Back" actually seems pretty good.

They really kinda cheaped out on this video, emphasizing the live performance angle. But they make it work by utilizing slick editing and the energy she puts into it. Gotta give a thumbs up on this one.

i loved the song THIS IS ME

it has a nice tune and stuff....her lyrics could be better though
and her voice is rly nice! though ive never heard her live....

well good luck to her anyway, seems as if she is doing well so far!

I don't think it can't happen, I just think it's hard to compare. That's all. That being said, we still haven't heard her album yet (unless it leaked already), so who knows?

Did you watch the concert I posted? I'm willing to bet all those songs are on the album (Sept 23 release).
