New Instrumental Song
« on: May 25, 2009, 03:12:25 pm »
I'd just heard this new Nessa song. Instrumental called "Waltz". I think is quite cool:

It sounds like something out of Victorian Era or something. Awesome.

Now it's called Tall Tales for Spring.

Could someone write down the lyrics... please? :)

Personally, I need more time to like 'Tall Tales for Spring.'

I grew fond of 'Waltz' for the past few months, with its gothic feel. There's something about its past status as an instrumental that's kind of calming and peaceful.

But maybe after a little more rounds of listening and clearer lyrics, I would like it too.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Haha I got realllllly nervous and mixed up Vanessa songs and thought she re-wrote Fair-Weather Friends and I almost threw a brick at my computer haha. uhhhhh... I agree with you, I need a better quality video to decide but it sounded a little rough.

God rest your soul Sunday Afternoon
The wicked is in, is surely wicked in you
Pray to a God that we never met
Time turns for its joy, the scientist’s voice
_____ _____ of the heart
But she knew it; you knew it from the start
Talking will tell us no tall tales for spring
The mind ___ ____ ____ the start in everything
Maybe it's true, your sadness takes hold
Your stars do ____ they ever know this
Lightening, lightening of the heart
But she knew it; you knew it at the start
And it’s lightening, lightening of the heart
But you knew it; you knew it from the start
Now we see we’ve come into the sunbeams
______________ and I daydream
Colored in black the eagle ______ ____ ____ and let you go
God rest your soul Sunday afternoon
The wicked in you is surely coming through
Pray to a ___ that I’ve met
There’s gotta be some way out of this mess
Of the heart
Heart; and it’s lightening, lightening from the start
But you knew it; you knew it from the start
Mmmhmmm
Mmhm
Mmmhm

Saw someone wanted the lyrics! My very BASIC interpretation of it...maybe someone else can help me fill in the gaps? Thanks! :)

wow, i think that's a great interpretation. i'm personally terrible at deciphering lyrics. thanks for the words!

her songwriting's grown so much. and i LOVE the title "tall tales for spring" and still wish she went with that for the album.

Here's what I got instead:

"God rest his head Sunday afternoon-
The wicked in me is surely the wicked in you.
We pray to a man, that we've never met.
Time turns for a cure and the scientists for
Madness, madness?? (I know she says that later) of the heart
But she knew it, you knew it from the start.

Talking will kill us- no tall tales for spring!
The mind?? saw the chaos that started everything
Maybe its true, your sadness takes hold (OR) maybe its truth when sadness takes hold?
The stars ________ will they ever notice?
Madness! Madness! of the heart.
But she knew it, you knew it from the start.
And the madness, the madness of the heart-
But she knew it, you knew it from the start.

((not really sure what she says in the next few lines..))... than a daydream.
((dunno this part either))  that would let you go.

God rest his head Sunday afternoon
The wicked in me is surely coming through,
I pray to a man that I've never met-
There's gotta be some way out of this mess
With the heart
((not sure about the next couple lines)
Madness! from the start.
But you knew it, you knew it from the start."

To me this song is about questioning religion by humanizing God, which I quite like.

HOWEVER I could also see it going the complete opposite way depending on the lyrics I couldn't quite hear, I'll just be happy to hear the studio version. It quite an interesting anecdotal style of writing, and I really am drawn to that style of music.
