What are you reading right now?

Hi everyone, I am not sure if this has been covered before, but I thought we could create a topic about what books we are reading right now, and talk about/recommend them to each other. It might be fun for all you book worms out there :)

I am currently reading 'Cannery Row' by John Steinbeck and I am almost half way through it. It is very good. I have  also read East Of 'Eden' by Steinbeck and it was honestly one of the best books I have ever read!

So what are you guys reading right now/want to read?

I'm currently reading Watership Down. Im almost done with it but it's been really good!

If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Hmm, I really liked My Sisters Keeper. That might be one of my all time favorites. Hbu?

Oh I saw the movie to that recently and it really disturbed me! I heard from my friend that the book ends slightly differently? Have you seen the movie too?

I love the classics and general a lot to be honest but I also have a soft spot for fantasy and sci-fi books!


I made a challenge to myself to read at least 50 books in 2011!  lol

Yeah, the book does end differently! I like the books ending better, it's pretty sad though. And yes, I did watch the movie too haha.

It's going pretty well thanks, although I was inspired to do this challenge at the beginning of Feb so have a little bit of catching up to do. I have read like 8 so far this year lol!!
I will finish 'Cannery Row' today and probably move on to 'The War of the Worlds'
Oy!


ps. A book to check out, (which I have read this year) is 'The perks of being a wallflower' by Stephen Chbosky!! It is a book that made me smile, laugh and cry! It really is great!

Basically it's a coming of age story about a boy who is in high school. He writes these letters to this anonymous friend (we never know who he/she is) talking about his life and growing up dealing with family issues, girl issues, friend issues.
I really wish I knew about this book while I was in high school, but only came across it now (just out of university). I still loved it though!!

I kind of made the same pact with myself.  I want to read more books, but not just any books.  The classics and also intellectual books ..for instance, i started reading a book by Joseph Campbell, I have one by Jung and stuff like that. However, right now I am reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and then I will read Through the looking glass.  I got the two in one book as a gift and it also came with an essay introduction...did anyone know that Lewis Carrol was actually a Revered who most likely was a petifile?  Creepy!  The book I finished before that was Dewey's Nine Lives, which any cat lover should read.

Jasonm you wouldn't happen to be a nerdfighter would you?

I just got done with The Hunger Games series last month and also Flipped after which I watched the movie almost immediately and then realized how much of the dialogue in the movie was actually ditto from the book. It was actually pretty surprising.

Currently reading, "Dash and Lily's Book of Dares". It's a pretty good book and I'd trust you'll enjoy it if you love YA fiction!

Have a couple more YA books to catch up on though I too wanna read some intellectual stuff without feeling compelled to :(

Joey What's a nerd fighter lol!?!?

I want to read the hunger games. In fact I bought all three yesterday from a book store. Can't wait t read them actually. I have heard such great things about them!

I am currently reading the War of the Worlds lol!
