The Birchmere is awesome. I got really good seats close to the stage. Patrick Sweeney was cool and my mom was crushing on him. Vanessa floated onto the stage with a glass of white wine and immediately started playing Learning To Fly/Carousel. Skye was there as well with his neat pedal. It sounded soooo good on Take It Easy. She used that neat "80s machine" on Get Good. She said The Willows was the first song she ever wrote about her parents and about being at their cabin in the woods. She mentioned her hospital stint and then said that she got married. Then before Bride she joked that her situation had changed and flashed her ring finger but said that the lyrics still meant the same thing. She was pretty talkative between the songs which was great. I asked my sister to get some recordings so I'll upload those if the sound came out okay. Also took some pics which I'll upload later. Towards the end some dude yelled out asking when the new album was going to come out and she said "later this year"!!

I got a gray Lord Victor t-shirt at the merch place and afterwards she came out to sign stuff. The venue specified no pictures prob to move things along quicker. I was towards the back of the line and soo nervous even though I've met her three times before. She looked pretty onstage but she looked stunning up close. I've never brought her anything before but I brought her a present this time. It was a wedding pic of her and John in a cute wooden frame I found that had a keyhole on it which reminded me of Unlock the Lock. When I got up to her I was talking way too fast and said something like, "I hope this isn't weird but I brought you a present." Then she said, "I'll take it!" kinda enthusiastically. I had put it loose in a gift bag and I thought she was gonna look at and she kinda peered into the bag but then set it down. Damn. I had her sign a picture of me and her from two years ago which she prob thought was weird cause I had red hair then, it's blonde now, and it didn't look like me. I never know what to say and just kinda freeze up. She was very sweet though and lovely as usual.

thanks for sharing! I love when she talks a lot in between songs and we get a glimpse into her thought process.  I am the same way when it comes to seeing her. I clam up and just act weird (like the last time in NYC)
take your time with video and pics.. just bask in the afterglow that is seeing and meeting Vanessa!  Most of us have patience to wait for you!

Arwen! I'm not sure if you'll remember, but we met a couple years ago (seems like just yesterday...) at the Vanessa/Matt Nathanson concert at the 9:30 Club in DC. Anyway, just wanted to say it sounded like you had a great time! That's awesome that you got to talk with her for a little while, and I'll bet she'll love the gift you brought her.

I almost went to this show, but I don't have a car and the Birchmere is not at all easy to get to from DC using public transportation (it's like two trains and a bus on a weeknight haha). Anyway, thanks for the thorough description of the show!

Hopefully she'll come back to 9:30 for the next tour ;)

Omg! I remember you Alex! I can't believe that was like two years ago now. That was a great show! That sucks you couldn't come last night but transportation up there can be a nightmare. Hopefully if she releases the album later this year she'll do another tour and maybe the 9:30!

Here's some pics. I didn't even think to take any of her after the show while I was waiting in line!

Carousel,Hom, TTFS, 7 swords, Take It Easy, Unlock The Lock, & ATM recordings up shortly.

I was there too!  I hadn't seen V in years so it was nice to see her again.  Loved the new tunes and can't wait for the album.  She was sweet when i talked to her for a few minutes after as always =)

Sorry it took so long for the uploads. The snow makes me lazy. Some songs have her talking in the beginning which I left in in case anyone wanted to hear it.
I also need to post a review for the Charlotte show, which was the best show experience I've ever been to.
