Fiana is Great
« Reply #15 on: July 19, 2003, 09:42:10 pm »
My friend Keith Lowe is her bass player.  i lhave also met the Drummer Matt Chamberlin.   They both live in Seattle about a mile from my house.  They rule!  m,att is like the best drummer alive right now.  MHe has also played with Elton John, Alanis, Mick Jagar, Your Mom, Eddie Brickel, Critter Buggin, Tori Amaos, Saturday Night live and pearl Jam.

Keith also playes with many bands as well including my favorite Seattle Band Crack Sabbath.  You might have noticed me wearing the shirt in Pix I have posted.  They play old Jazz standards in the genre of heavy metal and heavy metal in the genre of jazz.  Te sax player Skerik also plays Les Claypool, Critters, Roger Waters and was also in Sad Happy.

If you ever get a chance to see them.... DOOOOO.  They will kill you in minutes.  Keith's Mom also hands out fun size candy to everyone that shows up as well. how cool is that?  She is like 80 and is still rocking out with the best of them.

Matt Chamberlin is Fiona's drummer? Since when?  Studio, Tour or both?

Chamberlin is a very solid drummer.  Not the best alive by any means, but still very good.

I'm a big pearl Jam fan so I remember when he was sitting in with them.

Matt Chamberlain is one my biggest influences... And you know the guy!!
I don't really care about all that "the best" competition, but Matt is arguably the most distinctive sounding drummer I know. When it's him, I can usually pick him out. But then again, I'm a freak.
Andrew, he has done both of her records.... don't know if he''l have the time to do a tour as well.... if he comes along, I'll be building up his drumkit :)
Darn you, you lucky bastard, you.

You have to see Matt play with Critters.  He will knock your sox off.  He went away to study with some Moroccan guru and when he came back it was like holy cow!

It must have been Brad Houser's Birthday that I first noticed the Massive improvemet.  That was in like 2000.

Matt did both Fiona's albums and a couple of tours  I am not too sure what he is doing right now though.

If your email accepts attachments than I can send you a Critter tune or two that really rock.

It does.. I thought I knew all about Matt, never knew he had a guru :) Do send me some Critters stuff, know them, but not that well.
I hope one day I can get him to give me a few lessons. He should teach any drummer: teach them how to play organically.

Matt goes back and forth between Tori Amos (tours/album recording) and Fiona (tour/album recording).

Since Tori is on tour, Matt is on the road with her.  That is part of what's backing up the release of Fiona's new album.  I heard that all of his work on Fiona's album is done, and they're just working out kinks and putting the finishing touches.
Say you would say you could
say you'd come and stop the rain
say you'd try and hold me tight
and you just give me away
Make me high on lullabies
a melody for me to sway
say you would say you could
and you don't do anything
