she's recording a new album right now. last i heard from a friend she was doing the strings.  jon brion (genius) produced it again.  my friend runs a fiona apple site and gets news occasionally so check it out:

Why in gods name doesn't neverisapromise.com have this news?!?  They have been fiona's unofficial official fansite FOREVER and they have NOTHING on this!

I've been a HUGE Fiona fan since I saw her the first time in..... 99?  98?  When she was opening for Counting Crows on the Recovering the Sattelites tour.

I miss Fiona  :cry:

People are still amazed that I actually memorized the whole thing.... but really, it's a great little poem anywyas.

I need to busy tidal out again.  I haven't listened to it in it's entirety in over a year.

Last I heard it's coming on Sept. 30.  A loooooooong wait in other words.

Columbia House Release Date

Columbiahouse.com has changed its release date for Fiona's new album from the premature July 22nd, 2003 to September 30th, 2003. This date is still subject to change, and not necessarily reliable. However, it's very possible - according to Billboard, as seen below - that the album could be released on or around this date. As far as I know, the album is not yet complete, but we should hopefully start hearing more concrete news in the near future.
