Oh no, I can see us using it as currency here for all kinds of things on the site.

And could you imagine getting it signed?  Never had a dollar bill signed by President Washington.

It says that it is legal and has been permitted by the Treasury Department since 1967.  As I recall, it is legal to alter money in the U.S. as long as it is not done to defraud (e.g. to cut a penny down to dime-size for use in machines or to change the numbers on a $2 bill to look like a $20 bill).  I've seen dozens of machines that will take a penny and squish it out, putting an imprint on it as a souvenir.  That is legal also.  Putting coins on the railroad track is also legal as long as they don't injure anyone or damage property, including the train by derailing it; however, being on the railroad tracks could be charged as trespassing.

But why would you want to spend it?  It's a freakin' collectible!  :razz:
