I cannot imagine anyone favoring a Yamaha grand when given the choice of something else. But, they are really common. Their uprights have great bass for uprights... but their grands suck, IMNSHO. Maybe I have just had bad luck with them, but I have never found a Yamaha grand I really like.

yeah i know what you mean, i havent played too many of them but i really don tlike them.. dont really know why.. i just don't lol.. i think yamaha  should stick to electronics

However.... I think their uprights have pretty good sound for an upright. Or at least, I like the one that my old piano teacher has.

It's not really new, it's been a round for a while.

Ahem.  The Chevy Monte Carlo came out in more like 1970.  Sure, the name was absent from 1989-1994, and it's now a FWD V6-er, but it's evolutionarily descended from the original.  But anyway, yes, she looks quite comfortable in that new one in the Chevrolet calendar next month. 8)

Anyone know what type of piano Vanessa uses?
« Reply #24 on: February 17, 2004, 10:23:17 pm »
I'm looking at buying a new piano, and since the focal aspect of it will be Nessa's stuff, I want it to sound right...does anyone know what brand she uses? If not, any recommendations? I'm looking for an upright, not a grand *sniff * , and something with a reasonable price...

Here is some more info for you-Let

hey... vanessa uses many combinations of pianos in her studios. she even uses older piano derivatives of pianos (for example, the harmonium).. anyways, on BNN, Nessa has a piano with a  very bright, clear sound ( a normal recording piano). If you want that kind of piano, just try out different pianos or ask pianos that have a brighter color to it... However, i have to warn you, a piano that has a bright color to the sound doesn't really sound good acoustically.. so try out every single piano you can, because every single one is made differently even if they are the same brand.

anyways, i'll give you some famous brands of "affordable" pianos:

roland
kawaii
yamaha ( i think vanessa said that these are not bad)

steinways are good, aren't they?

Steinways are just amazing! I remember seeing a big poster advertisement for them when I was over in America, so we went to a shop and it was full of all these beautiful steinway pianos!
