Would You Pay Twenty Dollars...
« on: October 17, 2003, 07:39:40 am »
Would you pay $20.00 for a cd of an artist (that you already have) at their concert if you could meet them after the show?

I did this last night and really didn't think anything of it other than it was really cool. When I told one of my other friends they didn't think it was right that they are making you pay to meet them. I totally didn't EVER think of it like that until she mentioned it. But I am positive I would do it again. How about you? No depending on who it is, just think of it as someone you like a lot

If that was how it was set up and the ONLY people that got to meet the performer(s) were the ones that bought the CD.  I would think that's pretty lame.  Would I take advantage of it?  Definitely not if I had the CD already...  I voted no to the poll.  You're friend was right on to say that the band was making people pay to meet them.  Doesn't seem right...

well I still think it is great even if I do have to pay. Think of all the concerts that we go to where we never get to meet the artist. I mean I have seen MB 5 times and never had the pleasure.

It is kinda bad if you think of it that way but I still think it is cool. I bought the cd w/o a meeting so why not buy it again for a meeting and give the second/first to a friend

Even Vanessa was selling her CD for like 15-$20 and it only had an autograph.

I was also thinking about book signings isn't that kinda the same?

I guess everyone has their own opinion, that's why it's a poll, hahaha

I would have to say though...It would be a very select number of artists I'd pay that for though...I still think it is a rip off, but for me some of them would be worth it.

Linkin Park however, if your in LPU you get to meet them for free at their shows. The LPU is the fan club, it costs $25, but you get your money's worth: A LP t=shirt, autographed pic, 4 guitar pics, bumper sticker, keychain, an CD with unreleased rare songs and demos and some other stuff, along with presale tickets, access to extra multimedia and the meeting the band, that doesn't sound to greedy, seeing $25 is about the price of just a shirt at Hot Topic...

But I'd pay $20 to meet Vanessa, Josh Kelley, Staind,  and a few others

does not apply to a band - but i went to this event where there were celebs - discussing something that had happened in thier life and afterwards if you purchased $50 of specific brands of men's merchandise you could get a picture with them - so i purchased so nasty-ass perfume - took the picture and (in a mall store)and i went to another dept and returned it less than 10 min later.... so i would probably return a cd to hmv or walmart or something no questions asked if i wasnt crazy about wasting my money on a cd i already had....

I don't even meet them when they are right in front of me and it is free!  Why would I pay to do it....

I wished it wouldn't be that blunt....I WOULD however meet them if they were supporting a charity and I had to meet them to donate
