me want a guitar, but I'm so confused about what to get if im just learning.

well its easier for to go from accoustic to electric but harder to go the other way, you should buy a cheap guitar and get some self learn books and just go through them, it's easy to pick up. Or if you are ademant you could get a tutor. :)

if you want to play - "rock/pop"  music and you are just learning start on an acoustic - (different then classical) - if you want to do theory and latin style guitar go for a classical --- and if you want to do electric - do not start out on an electric --- its too expensive to learn on an electric ...
the main different types of guitars
classical - has nylon strings (easier on your fingers when you first start - but not the right sound for most music)
acoustic -(you see these when they are not using an electric) they have 6 steel strings and the sound is amazing depending on the brand, model, and guitar (this type of guitar is also availible in a 12 string version)
electric - The strings do not make very much noise at all - the strings vibrate and the sound from the vibrations is picked up through a microphone and transmitted to the speakers - more expensive because not only do you have to buy the guitar but also a speaker....

pictures of the different types

Classical

Acoustic

Electric

Ps- they sell very cheap acoustic and electric starter kits at places like walmart - not great quality but under $100 if you want to just try it out...

I have a fender... No piccies yet though, and I've had it for like 2 years. Boy is that pathetic... I wanna learn Twilight on it but ... where can I find the tabs... Also, I lost my tuner and bah, can't tune it now. Which really sucks because me and Ben just recently changed the strings (which needed to be done for like, ever.) AND I need to get a new High E because both mine popped. Grrrawl.

This is Chloe (yes, I named it, I'm a dork) ... I just got her today as a birthday/christmas present!  :D

It's not my actual guitar, I took a picture of mine, but my camera hook up stuff is at school so I can't upload them to the comp. So I just went to the website and found the picture of the same model and color. It's a Gibson AJ. The only way mine is different is the light wood part is smaller and more round rather than triangle like the picture. Mine looks a lil darker overall.

The "steel strings" are probably steel wrapped nylon core.
