i also feel this is sad... yes, true, i thought it was funny when he auditioned, we all had a big laugh- but can't we let it end there?  there are plenty of GOOD singers on that show who will not receive a recording contract (who, furthermore, deserve one) but instead, we have william hung, who was REJECTED from american idol but now has become a pop icon in the us (and around the world?).

i feel bad because again and again i wonder if he KNOWS the world is laughing at him- or if he really believes that he is a good singer.  who leads these people on and tells them that they should a., audition for american idol or b., pursue any kind of musical career?

aaaaaaaaaaand, i'm spent.

kelley

haha, THANK YOU!!

It is sad. I am spent too.

He may have been REJECTED but think about this, recording studios can do wonders with voices, just listen to the remixes and you'll see.  It's just ashame that we are putting so much effort into someone when there are plenty of others who deserve the same credit if not more.

i saw him on tv, and he doesnt sound as bad! he's alright... and he's got a new style!
I guess i like him cause I admire how he still kept a good attitude even after he was rejected and even though he knows everyone was laughing at him! I hate it when some of those people throw a fit and act like AI made a big mistake by rejecting them, cause they're so good! I want to slap those people, lol.

it really does piss me off that someone like him is getting such a great opportunity... what about the people like wonkies or even small bands that have not been discovered.  these people are serious about their music while WH just made an ass of himself and everyone is laughing AT him.

I say good for him! He obviously has a sense of humor, he is laughing all the way to the bank.
He is unique, let him have his 15 minutes of fame. It has nothing to do with talent and he may not deserve it but that's the way it goes....
Maybe he'll be the next Weird Al!

(hey Wonkies ... he needs a band!)

I'm sorry, but just sit back and laugh.

"Oh my God, he's ruining music.  He's keeping other's that can sing from getting publicity."  Ah, shut up.

Just sit back and laugh.  For once in your lives, just sit back and enjoy something.

Different strokes, different pokes, different folks.

It's fun to watch.  Why is it so wrong to do things just simply for fun?  Fox's ratings for the tryouts of American Idol--the episodes where they show William Hung and people like him--are actually HIGHER than they are once they reach the finalists.  The American public likes to be entertained.  It's funny and entertaining.
