Clark, Jones, Morgan, and Smith are four people whose occupations are salesperson, pharmacist, grocer, and police officer, though not necessairly in that order. Use the following statements to determine each person's occupation.

1. Clark and Jones are neighbors and take turns driving each other to work.
2. The grocer makes more money than Morgan.
3. Clark beats Smith regularly at bowling.
4. The salesperson always walks to work.
5. The police officer does not live near Clark.
6. The only time Morgan and the police officer ever met was when Morgan was stopped for speeding.
7. The grocer doesn't bowl.

okay apparently neither Clark nor Jones is a salesperson.
Morgan is not a grocer.
Clark is not the police officer.
Jones is not the police officer.
Morgan is not a police officer.
okay Clark and Smith are not grocers.

police officer-Smith.
pharmacist-Clark.
grocer- Jones.
Sales person- Morgan.

ahh so I was right on the Smith one, lol thanks Limey!

Okay for those of you who are still up to helpin me out, here are 6 more questions, then I SWARE I'm done after this, haha.

And I have looked at all the problems, & usually I'm good with this stuff but I suck at these worksheets esp. when we had a sub the day we got them, ack! Okay, here goes...

1. Bill can paint a closet in 2 hours. Bob can paint the same closet in 3 hours. How long will it take them to paint the closet working together? (I'm guessing 1 hour, or an hour & a half?)

2. Paul can mow the grass in 50 minutes, but it takes Dan three times as long. How long will it take them to mow the grass if they work together?

3. Using 1 drain, a swimming pool can be emptied in 45 minutes. Using a different drain, the job requires 1 hour and 15 minutes. How long will it take if both drains are opened?

4. One pipe can fill a tank in 4 hours. A second pipe also requires 4 hours, but a third needs three hours. How long will it take to fill the tank if all three pipes are open?

5. From 6ab-2ac+5bc, take 10ab-2bc+3ac

6. Find the perimeter of a rectangle if its length is (4c+7) units and its width is (c-3) units.

7. David has 11 coins, some quarters and some dimes. If the coins have a value of $1.55, how many of each kind are there?

The last two are from the other worksheet, couldn't figure those out either.

lol I bet I will be the only one in my class with both worksheets fully done, haha no one else in my class had a clue how to do these either.

Thanks guys!

50 minutes...Dan fell in the pool and that's why they're draining it in problem #3!

actually, I would be interested in knowing the answer myself...

I beg to differ. The grocer was Clark. The pharmacist was Morgan. The salesman was Smith and the police officer was Jones.

I think Limey was right. Because I was thinking that Smith was the officer & that's what Limey said also, so if that was right, I think the rest of his answer were right. Could be wrong tho...?

That's what I meant ;(

Do you have more that aren't as math-related as the most recent ones you've posted? Because I'm definitely not good at Math.

I only have a couple more that need to be answered, so i'll post those again  8)

Using 1 drain, a swimming pool can be emptied in 45 minutes. Using a different drain, the job requires 1 hour and 15 minutes. How long will it take if both drains are opened?

next question: One pipe can fill a tank in 4 hours. A second pipe also requires 4 hours, but a third needs three hours. How long will it take to fill the tank if all three pipes are open?

Oh & one last one I forgot:

Tim bought some 25 cent and some 29 cent stamps. He paid $7.60 for 28 stamps. How many of each type of stamp did he buy?
