yeah it is. I know so many people who do that!

And they can never stop, and their nails look all crusty and bloody and they have no nails!!! gross!

It is too, a bad habit!  :?

my nails don't look crusty or bloody....and it's a perfectly fine habit if you aren't hurting yourself.

Not my idea of fun  8O  About the closest I've ever got, is having to bite off a
fragment of finger nail when it wouldn't seperate and I couldn't cut it either

It's not like you should bite your nails after certain activities without washing:

surgery(when you are a surgeon)
gardening
taking your dog for a walk and picking up after him/her/it
working at the sewage treatment plant
cleaning your house
taking out the trash
hot sex


You should always wash your hands after such activities and can use a nail brush to keep your nails sparkling clean and germ free.
