It's fine right now. But lately it has been crappy. Opening a PM takes ages, sometimes
While other internet sites work fine at the same moment

Oh well, must be the connection

The connection?  Shouldn't be this server's connection.  100Mbit FastEthernet to multiple OC-48s.  CPU usage on the server is also incredibly low.  If you see this again, please let me know time/date, and if you can, a traceroute to the server.  Either PM them to me, or email to kcochran@trolans.net.

On windows, you'd fire off a command prompt and use tracert.  You'll get some output like the following:

Code: [Select]

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>tracert nessaholics.com

Tracing route to nessaholics.com [64.71.177.236]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1   <10 ms   <10 ms   <10 ms  silverlock.localnet [192.168.0.1]
  2    20 ms    20 ms    20 ms  adsl-64-172-96-254.dsl.snfc21.pacbell.net [64.172.96.254]
  3    10 ms    20 ms    20 ms  dist1-vlan50.snfc21.pbi.net [206.171.134.130]
  4    20 ms    20 ms    10 ms  bb1-g8-3-0.snfc21.pbi.net [209.232.130.82]
  5    20 ms    20 ms    20 ms  bb2-p3-0.snfcca.sbcglobal.net [151.164.190.186]
  6    20 ms    10 ms    20 ms  bb1-p12-0.sntcca.sbcglobal.net [151.164.191.54]
  7    20 ms    20 ms    20 ms  bb2-p9-0.sntc01.sbcglobal.net [64.161.1.26]
  8    20 ms    20 ms    20 ms  ex1-p10-0.eqsjca.sbcglobal.net [64.161.1.46]
  9    20 ms    30 ms    10 ms  ex2-p2-0.eqsjca.sbcglobal.net [151.164.191.202]
 10    20 ms    30 ms    20 ms  151.164.248.222
 11    20 ms    20 ms    30 ms  pos2-3.gsr12416.pao.he.net [66.220.13.42]
 12    20 ms    20 ms    20 ms  pos2-0.gsr12012.fmt.he.net [64.62.249.121]
 13    20 ms    20 ms    20 ms  nessaholics.com [64.71.177.236]

Any other OS should have a traceroute command which does the same thing, just with more letters in the command name.  Results which are less than 100ms should be considered fine if you're within the US.  Closer you are to California, the smaller the reply time should be.  Expect about 100ms additional time for transoceanic links.

the easiest way is:

start -> run -> type "command" and hit enter

enter "tracert nessaholics.com" (as Tylor mentioned)

then copy/paste the output... to copy it you have to go to the upper left hand corner (where it has a little icon that says c:\) and go down to Edit then Mark.  Highlight what you want to copy and hit enter.

I'm guessing that Si's slowness issue is getting into the states tho ;)
