Im not sure if there is already a thread about this movie so im sorry if there is.
I watched this film last night by myself and I have to say that it was excellent.
I've heard people say that mothers and daughters should watch it together because theres an important lesson to be learned and its great for descussion but after I watched it by myself I didn't really want to talk about it.
Its more of a thinking movie, well it was to me.
After the movie I didnt want to be sitting there with mummy talking about peer pressure and drugs etc.
But if your a younger person then maybe it would be an idea to watch it with ur parent.
Anyway enough of the blabbering. Thirteen is about a yound girl named Tracey.
She is from a broken family but seems to have it all together until she meets Evie, the most popular/beautiful girl in school.
Evie befriends Tracey and they start to take drugs, have sex and do everything that a parent wouldnt want their child to do.
Its an eye opener but its so brilliant.
If you can manage to get the DVD with audio commentary featuring some of the cast- Evan Rachel Wood (Tracey), Nikki Reed (co-writer and plays her first acting role as Evie) and the writer/director Katherine (i forget her last name) watch it aswell because there are some sceens that some people might not understand (like the ending) and they explain it.
Evan Rachel Wood, Nikki Reed and Holly Hunter are so believable and great.
Its also great to see teenagers as young as Nikki was to play a part in writing the script because teens can relate to it much easier.
I loved it
The music was cool aswell, new acts and some fresh songs by Katy Rose.
Lemon by Katie Rose was written for the movie.
