How much is too much for a DVD box set?
« on: August 02, 2004, 02:20:21 pm »
How much would you be willing to pay for one of your favorite movie/TV/anime series' season/complete box set? I mean I have trouble parting with $50 or $100 for domestic stuff, and with imports it's even more expensive..  :? But what's the most you'd be willing to pay for a set?

For me: Per Season ala Buffy: $50-70
For a series: Depends on what it is. Anime $150~

This I think is the most expensive I've seen, the Godzilla Final Box, for 99,750 yen or $922. :| I would hope it didn't include that American version.

The Showgirls box set
Amazon Asking Price: $27.99
Seriously, who would spend more than 5 cents on this garbage?

the most I've paid is 99.99 for each season of Star Trek TNG&DS9. (Paramount bitches)

Millennium (Fox) was 45.99 which is much more reasonable.
Both Dark Angel(Fox) seasons were about the same.
X-Files is Fox too but they were something like $120 per if I remember correctly. I wasnt even tempted. If they were in the 45 range too I might have considered it.
Highlander goes for about 60-70 per but its from some obscure company.

Just because the GC is worth .50 cents nowadays, don't mean you have to hate on the Box. KOTOR & Fable is reason enough to get one. :|

The X-Files dvd's have gone down, they are still expensive as hell, but still.

Yay, more money gone when the Star Wars Trilogy is released.

I'm gonna wait for the Star Wars 6 pack

Matrix collection will be out some time before Christmas, probably $80 give or take.

LotR extended collection will be about $90

Yeah if you actually like the New Trilogy. But TPM and AOTC have been mediocre on repeated veiwings.

thats recockulous - it was barely one full season of shows

but would only be willing to pay like $35 at most...

I paid like 30 each for the X-Files and Friends.  American editions of Friends are cheap.  I had to order the X-Files from Hong Kong.  LOL
I think you underestimate the level of my sneakiness

haha....The Box Set is one of the main reasons I love Christmas/Birthdays

I got the Jurassic Park set as a gift as well as the Indiana Jones set

and I'll be asking for The Ultimate Oliver Stone Collection (15 films for $90) for Christmas   :D

However....if I were to buy a set, it must be reasonably priced....

for example...The Omen Collection (4 films) is $40 bucks...ten bucks per film...thats worth it...

The Crow Collection of all three films is listed as $35 on Amazon, but I recall seeing it for $30 at Suncoast video store...I think I'd pay either for that collection...

now you look at Oliver Stone Collection of 90 bucks for 15 films...it's well work it...6 bucks per film...and it has some great films in it....I would just rather save my $90 and have someone else give it to me as a gift   :D
