He was a young boy, barely 18
And she was just a pretty girl he'd seen
He knew from that first glance at her
That he'd never have a chance with her
The way her face glowed and her silky long hair
Every man who walked by would see her and stare
And he was nothing more than invisible
'Cause he hadn't anything to make her tangible
She was more than he could afford to dream
He had no stylish house or limousine
And as he looked in the mirror later that day
He knew his one chance had gotten away
He said
It hurts so bad to watch from a distance
Stand outside the glass and press your fingers to the pane
And not to act takes so much resistance
'cause I’m dying to feel that she feels the same
She known him forever but still couldn't tell
If he felt that things just weren't going so well
He’d always been too hard to read
So she gave him what she thought he'd need
Every night he'd leave without saying goodbye
Or where he was going but she saw it in his eyes
Now she was nothing more than invisible
She’d lost everything that'd made him tangible
One night when he came home too late
She decided she would set him straight
She stood there with her suitcase packed
Wondering how he'd react
She said
I was lying awake watching you sleeping
Standing outside the glass with my fingers to the pane
And I wondered if all this was even worth keeping
'cause I’m dying inside and you don't feel the same
I’m dying
I’m restless
I’m crying
I’m selfish
I need to believe that
You look at me and
Feel the same I do
I’m drowning without you
Even hinting you know I’m alive and
I’m confused
I’m fearing
It’s no use
I’m weary
I just can't believe that
You look at me and
You don't even notice
Your eyes just won't focus
I’m standing and you don't see me
