Around the Sun
« on: September 29, 2004, 08:57:47 am »
I’ve never walked with Ghandi
I’ve never known myself
It’s hard to feel a little happy
Without some new pill’s help
And it’s difficult to think
That I even speak
In rhyme to make the world make sense
Maybe form a pattern
In the pieces that were shattered
And you stand in the center of this mess

I’ll never know why the world keeps turning
Or why the clock keeps ticking
Around the sun that’s slowly burning
A hole up in the sky

I’ve never known anyone
Who makes me feel like you do
You reach real deep inside my mind
And find what I didn’t know I knew
And it’s difficult to swallow
That’s I’m even hollow
When you say I have a soul inside
You make me search me
To find what hurts me
And unlock all the handcuffs in my life

I’ll never know why the world keeps turning
Or why the clock keeps ticking
Around the sun that’s slowly burning
A hole up in the sky

And I’ll never know why I’m still drowning
Or why I can’t stay afloat
While the man in the moon is frowning
And pulling back the tide

Please hold my hand while we walk home
‘Cause I’m afraid to admit that I’m afraid to admit that I’m afraid of being alone
How do you stay so rock solid?
How do you have so much solace?
Some days I want to chisel you down
So there’s nothing left but the sound of our silence
But without your ledge to stand on
This would be the end of the song

And I’ll never know why you lift my chin
Or why you love me for me
And you’ve convinced yourself to help me win
The battle I fight within me

I have never walked with Ghandi
I have never known myself
But I’ve made my way around the sun
And played the hand that I was dealt
*natalie*

at least i can say
i was not afraid
i loved you all the way
i'd pick the fool any day.

I just love it!

For me it's a glance
And a smile on your face
A touch of your hands
An honest embrace - VC, Home

Well, the inspiration is as follows:

It's based loosely on myself. And I guess if I was singing to anyone I'd be singing to God or myself (if we want to apply it to my life) but it works out so that it's open to interpretation.
I suffer from depression (hence, the pills) and I'm not satisfied with myself as a person, meaning my behavior and motives. Self-actualization I guess it's what it's about, and the person in the song is trying to help me (or whoever) become a better person.
And as far as the sun thing... We're all just so small compared to both the sun (if you want to be literal) and everything we don't know or understand.
I'm thinking the moon reference is more obvious.
Yeah, so that's it, I hope the explanation works for ya.

aww thank you Bee! That's so awesome of you (considering how I feel about SJ  )!!
Actually, I haven't told you, but he is going to read three of my songs... I've gotten to know the admin at 3eb.com pretty well and he works for Eric Godtland. He has the songs and all he has to do is show them to SJ 8O  :D
