not too much to add to the reviews already posted, but since my wife and i drove from colunbia,sc to see this show, thought i'd add my two cents of parts that made show enjoyable to me.
first off the opening act, christopher jak was ok.guitar skills and vocal ability were fair.his strength is his songwriting.songs were well written and arranged.the shouts from the crowd made me laugh out loud.one girl called out "are you legal?".while another yelled"take off your clothes".it was funny.
vanessa was dressed in a long white, ruffled dress as she took the stage.since it was the 20th anniverary of the trustees theatre she said "since it's a celebration here tonight,i thought i'd get dressed up for the occasson".she looked and sounded fantastic.highlights for me were "wanted".she said it was about and ex boyfriend who could only think of her in one way, basically as a piano player.she played it for him after it was written and said "he was too dumb to realize the song was about him" which made me laugh as well.
it was my first time hearing any of the new material, other than "white houses" which i heard when she appeared on trl.i liked all of the songs but if i had to pick a favorite i'd have to say "she floats" was absoluely awesome.her vocal range on that song is incredible and she seemed to hit every note perfectly.she said "the song was about an 8 year old girl that lives in her closet and it just so happens that the girl is dead."
i took a bunch of pictures that i will post as soon as i get them back.moved real close for the encore after a bunch of people had left.those will probably be the best ones that i took.would love to hear your recording of the show "all i ask 2003".send me an e-mail and let me know how i can get a copy,if you'd be so kind?
