FYI - I put a brand new song up on myspace.  It's called "Multiple Endings."  If I know Nessa fans like I think I do, you guys will probably (hopefully) love this one.   :D

Shannon I really like that song. Reminds me of "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayer for some reason.
Lyrics? Are you making another album? Maybe just put a few songs on a CD, I would definitely pay for shipping and everything!

You know that Dirrty feeling when you wake up with no pants on face down on the floor of the city bus and you got like a condom in your ear? Thats the feeling we are trying to create! - Sarah Michelle Gellar

Thanks.   :)

I will post the lyrics later today.  No plans for a new album just yet.  I will keep you informed, though.

Here are the lyrics:

I used to be scared that nothing would change
I was afraid of everything tame
It's all I knew and it's all the same
I'm still afraid

I used to light up at the thought of
Something to love, what was to come
I still have hope, but it doesn't grow
Soon it will fade

Chorus:
Climbing a staircase to the bottom floor
Tempted to wish I could forget what matters most to me
Locked in a room filled with open doors
Focused on the one that is closed
No one's letting me inside
I just try and try to think of multiple endings
Always asking why I need
More than what I have

I used to have time, is it too late?
I let my life get in the way
If I let go now, I'd be ashamed
I'd be ashamed

Chorus

I used to dream
I used to know what I would be

Chorus

Rockin' Guitar Solo

not an album, just songs that aren't on the CD that you have done.  :D

I have 4600 "friends" on myspace, but only interact with a small percentage of those people on a regular basis.  As a semi-struggling musician, I'm looking for ideas on how to continually increase my fan base.

SO.  I need to know what works for you!

What makes you a true FAN of an artist?  Is it just the music or is it also something else?  What keeps you coming back for more?  Videos, blogs, updates, pictures...?  Do you listen mostly to artists/bands who are signed with a label?  What kind of merch do you buy, if any?  Do you like it when musicians advertise on your page - or do you consider it spam?  Are you into your local music scene?  Do you prefer to buy entire albums or individual tracks?  Do you think music is fairly priced?  How do you discover new artists/bands?

Any input will help!  If you have an opinion, I'd like to hear it.  Feel free to go above & beyond those specific questions...they are just examples of the sort of things I'd like to know.

Thank you!

<3 Shannon

Shannon, I left a comment on your latest YouTube video. I like the song.

As for helping you with that... I only consider myself a fan of two or three bands/singers which are not signed to a major label (you being one...) I really base my fan-ness on the quality of music. It also helps to have a CD to look forward to. The anticipation is a sometimes frustrating, sometimes rewarding part of being a fan.

I'm really only a diehard fan of vanessa. Until recently I just hung around the boards when an album was about to come out or something. I really like reading posts from vanessa herself, that's what keeps me coming back.  As for your questions... I listen to pretty much any type of music, signed or unsigned... although I do prefer to listen to music that has many layers of production.  I don't really buy merch unless it's a poster. I like it when musicians advertise, actually... it's hard to keep on top of all the new news in the music scene, so it's helpful when the band lets you know when they're next album's going to be out or whatever. I'll but the whole album if I like the artist all around. I'll only buy the inidividual song of one-hit wonders and random party songs usually. I absolutely do not think music is fairly priced at the major label level, but I understand when indie musicians need to make money. Hope this helps  :D

In addition to what I posted on MySpace, it usually help me when a band or artist comes to Memphis and I'm able to go see them perform.  But that's by no means a requirement.
